The most popular mattress size in Canada is the Queen. A Queen-sized mattress is typically around 152 x 203.5 cm (60” by 80”), which is perfect for guest rooms, smaller bedrooms, and more. These beds are large enough for couples, even those who like a bit of space. The price factor also puts Queen mattresses at the top of most Canadians’ list. They are less expensive than King-sized mattresses but offer many of the same size benefits. To help you choose the best queen mattress in Canada, we’ve selected a few of our favourites.
Below, our experts will give their opinions on:
- The best mattresses in Canada in the most popular size
- Mattresses that perform well across multiple testing areas, including cooling and pressure relief
- Sleep trials, return policies, and warranties that work for you
- Affordable options starting at $900 CAD.

Finding the Best Queen Mattress in Canada: Our Testing Process

Our Scoring Process for Queen Mattresses
When we scored the Queen mattresses on our list, we looked at scores from various corners. We looked at our experts’ opinions, tester feedback, and scores from our testing process. These scores were all considered carefully. Our team created composite scores for each mattress based on all of this feedback combined.
Our Tests for Queen Mattresses
These queen mattresses were put through our gauntlet of mattress tests. These tests are separated into two categories: practical, where we test with a team of testers, and simulation tests. Simulation tests use machines that measure temperature, vibrations, and more in various simulated sleeping scenarios. These tests help provide the most complete picture of how the mattress performs in various circumstances.
How We Chose These Queen Mattresses
We chose these queen mattresses based on their performance capabilities across all categories. We specifically looked for mattresses that provided the most comprehensive benefits for couples as well as guests. Once we had these parameters in mind, we looked for mattresses that fit our criteria and performed well through our unique testing gauntlet.

Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress Construction
Firm Version
- Antimicrobial Cover. Same as Medium-Firm version.
- Quilted Layer. Same as Medium-Firm version.
- 1″ Supportive Foam Layer. This supportive foam layer uses high-quality foam layers to provide a supportive, comforting feel for the mattress. This layer cushions deep pressure points and keeps you balanced.
- 9″ Pocket coil Base with Zoned Lumbar Support. This thick layer of supportive pocket coils is firmer in the middle to provide the best possible support where you need it most.
- Firm Edge Support. The coil layer is surrounded with a firm supportive perimeter that reduces sagging and slipping at the edges of the bed.
Medium-Firm Version
- Antimicrobial Cover. A plush, comfortable cover provides a soft place to lay down. This layer uses a quilted layer of foam to provide additional softness. The cover itself is made with antimicrobial fibres, which reduce and restrict bacterial growth. This means your bed stays fresh for longer, which is important since the cover can’t be removed.
- Quilted Layer. This thin layer of memory foam is quilted into the cover. It produces a softer feel for the top of the mattress, helping you fall asleep and reducing immediate pressure.
- Cooling Pressure Relief. The first layer of foam within the mattress is a high-density cooling gel foam. This layer relieves pressure and isolates heat, moving it away from you to keep it from building up.
- 8” Pocket Coil Base with Zoned Lumbar Support. The supportive core of the mattress features 8” pocket coils. Up to 1,200 coils are arranged into comfort zones, with firmer coils at the centre and around the edges of the mattress.
- Firm Edge Support. The edges of the mattress feature firmer coils, reducing sagging when you sit or sleep near the edge of the bed.

Plush Version
- Antimicrobial Cover. Same as Medium-Firm version.
- Cooling Fabric. Proprietary cooling fabric is unique to the Plush version of the Endy Hybrid mattress. This layer reduces heat, preventing build-up and keeping night sweats away.
- Quilted Layer. Same as Medium-Firm Version.
- Deep Pressure Relief. Two inches of high-density memory foam delivers better pressure relief, reducing discomfort for side sleepers and those who sink further into the mattress.
- Transition Layer. The Plush version of the mattress also features an additional transition layer, which cushions the coils so you won’t feel them. This layer also helps with some motion isolation.
- 8″ Pocket Coil Base with Zoned Lumbar Support. Same as Medium-Firm version.
- Firm Edge Support. Same as Medium-Firm Version.
Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress Performance Scores

Temperature Control – 8.9/10
Silk & Snow’s cooling foam and breathable coils help reduce temperature build-up throughout the mattress. However, the temperature control we saw during testing could be better. Heat built up within the mattress and dissipated a little slower than we like. While the temperatures never reached uncomfortable levels, the slow venting of heat made it a little uncomfortable over time.
Motion Isolation – 9.2/10
We expect hybrid mattresses to perform poorly when it comes to motion isolation, but the Silk & Snow Hybrid returned surprisingly effective scores. During our practical and simulation tests, motion could still be felt on the other side of the bed. However, it wasn’t nearly as much as you would expect, and many smaller motions didn’t travel at all.
Pressure Relief- 8.6/10
If there is one area where this mattress could perform better, it’s pressure relief. While performance in this area wasn’t poor by any means, it wasn’t as comfortable as we’d hoped. While average and lightweight sleepers won’t have a problem, heavier sleepers were more likely to feel the firmer coils from the zoned coil layer.
Ease of Movement – 9.4/10
The materials used within the Silk & Snow Hybrid are responsive and make movement easy. We noted fast response times, and our testers didn’t mention any difficulty with moving across the surface. Even after sleeping in the same spot for a long time, movement didn’t take much additional effort.
Who is the Silk & Snow Hybrid For?
- Couples. This mattress isolates motion well for a hybrid. When your partner tosses and turns, you can sleep peacefully.
- Those who sleep warm. If you sleep warm, this mattress may have enough temperature control for you. Hot sleepers, on the other hand, may need more temperature control measures.
- Canadians who need lumbar support. The zoned coil layer reduces strain on your joints, but it also aligns your spine to prevent discomfort. As a result, you’ll get better support for your hips and lower back.
Who Should Avoid the Silk & Snow Hybrid?
- Canadians who need better pressure relief. The pressure relief on this mattress is far from the worst we’ve seen, but it’s still not the best. If you need deeper pressure relief, the Silk & Snow Hybrid may not be for you.

The relatively thin comfort layers on the Silk & Snow Hybrid make it a little worse in the pressure relief department. If you need better pressure relief, particularly for side sleepers or heavier sleepers, the Douglas Summit is a good choice. It’s an all-foam mattress rather than a hybrid, but you will sleep more comfortably regardless.
Best All Foam – Douglas Summit

Best All Foam
Douglas Summit is hands-down one of the best-performing affordable mattresses in Canada. Our test results speak for themselves.
- Temperature Control: 9.2/10
- Motion Isolation: 10/10
- Edge Support: 9.7/10
- Pressure Relief: 10/10
- Bounce: 7.5/10
- Eco: 9.3/10
- Response: 10/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.9/10
- Policies: 10/10
Highlights
- Outstanding motion isolation for couples and restless partners
- Effective pressure relief for most Canadians
- Extremely responsive materials
“Great value, fast shipping, and super comfy. We couldn’t be happier.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Douglas Summit)
Douglas Summit Mattress Construction
- Douglas CoolSense Cover with CryoFusion Cooling Nanofibres. Like all of the mattresses in Douglas’s lineup, the Summit features a removable, washable cover. This breathable material is made with sustainable Infinitex thread and woven with CryoFusion Cooling nanofibres, which help remove heat.
- 2.5” Luxury ecoLight Gel Foam with Polar Temperature Balancing. A layer of memory foam at the top of the mattress is coated with phase-changing material. This material maintains a consistent temperature throughout the night, reducing excess heat by venting it through the mattress. The foam itself is a cooling gel foam, which helps vent heat off.
- 2.5” Premium Elastex Foam. A transition layer of latex-alternative Elastex foam creates a deeper cushion for all of your pressure points. This material makes this mattress responsive and helps isolate some motion.
- 7” Motion Isolation Support Foam. The base of the mattress is a dense foam that helps isolate motion, reducing shaking from the other side of the bed. It helps you sleep more comfortably, particularly if your partner is often restless.
Douglas Summit Mattress Performance Scores

Temperature Control – 9.2/10
Memory foam has a habit of retaining heat, making it uncomfortable to sleep if you suffer from night sweats. Thankfully, the Douglas Summit doesn’t contain any memory foam. Its layers act in the same way but are made to retain less heat and promote better airflow than standard memory foam. Heat barely built up in this mattress when we mapped it with our equipment and dissipated quickly enough that we don’t anticipate it being a problem for most Canadians.
Motion Isolation – 10/10
As an all-foam mattress, we expected the Douglas Summit to return good motion isolation scores. However, we were blown away by how well it was able to isolate motion through our simulation and practical tests. This mattress performed extremely well in these areas during our ball-drop and tester-led experiments, with virtually no transfer even for larger movements.
Pressure Relief- 10/10
The Douglas Summit offers some of the best scores in Canada when it comes to pressure relief. The thick comfort layers stop any strong pushback from the mattress itself, leading to better outcomes for those who struggle with pressure points. Testers agreed that they woke up comfortable no matter which position they slept in.
Ease of Movement – 9.9/10
It’s easy to move on the surface of the Douglas Summit, thanks to the memory foam and latex alternative materials used in its construction. These materials reform extremely quickly, so you won’t have to struggle to change position in the middle of the night. Our testers noted that there was no resistance to movement when they slept.
Who is the Douglas Summit For?
- Canadians who sleep hot. While the temperature control on this mattress isn’t the greatest, it’s the best for those who don’t need extreme cooling properties. If you sleep hot occasionally, this mattress can help.
- Side sleepers. Side sleepers need great pressure relief. The comfort layers of the Douglas Summit are thick enough to prevent pressure points for most sleepers, including heavier side sleepers.
- Couples and restless partners. The Douglas Summit performed better than most of the other mattresses on our list when it came to motion isolation. Your restless partner isn’t going to wake you up.
Who Should Avoid the Douglas Summit?
- Canadians who want more bounce. The Douglas Summit performs near-perfectly in most categories across the board. The one area where it doesn’t perform as well is bounce. If you prefer more feedback from your mattress, this may not be the option for you.
Factor | Douglas Summit Mattress |
Price | $1,299 (Queen) |

Bounce is the only area where the Douglas Summit may be able to improve. However, bounce is sacrificed in this instance to reduce motion isolation. If you want a mattress that doesn’t offer the best motion isolation but has great bounce, consider the Logan & Cove Frontier. It’s a hybrid with strong support and more feedback.
Best Luxury Hybrid – Logan & Cove Frontier

Best Luxury Hybrid
Logan & Cove Frontier is a hotel-style luxury hybrid that uses a Euro-top for outstanding comfort and pressure relief.
- Temperature Control: 9.2/10
- Motion Isolation: 7.1/10
- Edge Support: 9.7/10
- Pressure Relief: 9.4/10
- Bounce: 9.0/10
- Eco: 9.2/10
- Response: 9.0/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.3/10
- Policies: 9.5/10
Highlights
- Comfortable Euro-top section for additional plushness
- Good temperature control and breathability
- Strong edge support for those who sleep or sit near the edge
“I feel like I can finally sleep through the night without having to change positions constantly.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Logan & Cove Frontier)
Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress Construction
- Quilted Euro-Top Cover. The Logan & Cove Frontier uses a quilted Euro-top, which features a few layers of materials to increase plushness. Among these are the CryoFusion Nanofibres woven into the fabric of the cover itself, as well as a layer of hollow fibre fill and a layer of cooling gel foam. Together, these materials increase breathability and create a softer sleeping surface.
- 1” ecoLuxe Gel Foam. The top foam layer within the mattress is a cooling memory foam with less carbon input than standard memory foam. This foam reduces heat throughout the mattress but also adds a measure of softness. It wicks away heat so you feel comfortable throughout the night.
- 1” Aeroduct Micro Coils. The middle of the mattress features the first of two coil layers. The Aeroduct Micro Coils facilitate better pressure relief overall, contouring to your body more effectively for a better experience overall.
- 1 ⅝” Elastex Foam. A transition layer of Elastex foam separates the coil layers. This foam helps with some motion isolation, but it also makes the mattress more responsive. This layer reduces pressure from the mattress so you don’t form pressure points. Elastex is a latex alternative that retains the properties of natural latex to reduce discomfort.
- 9” Pocket Coil Support Layer. The core of the mattress uses thick, dense pocket coils that are individually wrapped to prevent some motion transfer. These coils compress individually to create a better support profile. They are also zoned, with firmer coils in the centre of the mattress to reduce strain.
Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress Performance Scores

Temperature Control – 9.2/10
If you sleep hot, you aren’t alone. Many Canadians wake up too hot, and their mattresses might be to blame. The Logan & Cove Frontier uses breathable materials and cooling foams to reduce heat, improving how well it vents off after building up. This means that you’ll suffer fewer night sweats and stay overall more comfortable than you might expect.
Motion Isolation – 7.1/10
One of the areas where the Logan & Cove Frontier doesn’t quite stack up is motion isolation. The coils are great for support, but they also allow excess movement to transfer across the surface. In both our simulation tests (using a weighted ball) and our practical tests (using testers on each side of the bed), this mattress showed significant vibration and movement with even the smallest motions.
Pressure Relief- 9.4/10
The softer surface of the Logan & Cove Frontier, provided by the Euro-top section, makes it a great option for those who need pressure relief. The mico-coils also help the mattress contour to your body, reducing strain by providing unique support and a reduced pressure map. Our testers who normally suffered from pressure points found themselves more comfortable than anticipated on this mattress.
Ease of Movement – 9.3/10
The micro-coils and responsive materials used within the Logan & Cove Frontier make it easy to move around on the surface. Usually, a softer sleep surface makes it more difficult to change positions and move around. However, this isn’t the case with the Frontier. A quick response time meant that our testers could change position with minimal effort, even after laying in the same spot for hours.
Who is the Logan & Cove Frontier For?
- Canadians who sleep warm. The cooling features within the Logan & Cove Frontier focus on heat isolation and breathability, ideal for those who often wake up uncomfortably warm.
- Edge sleepers. The edges of the mattress feature stronger coils, reducing sagging when you sit or sleep near the edge of the bed.
- Eco-conscious Canadians. The layers of foam used within the Logan & Cove Frontier are eco-conscious when compared to standard memory foam and latex.
Who Should Avoid the Logan & Cove Frontier?
- Light sleepers. This mattress does little to reduce motion transfer, so couples and those who wake up with every movement should find an option that isolates motion better.
Factor | Logan & Cove Frontier |
Price | $1,299 (Queen) |
Sizes | Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, California King, Split King |
Firmness | Medium Firm |

Comfort Layer Height | 4.5” |
Support Layer Height | 9.0” |
Sleep Trial | 365 Nights |
Warranty | 15 Years |
Alternative Option
The Logan and Cove Frontier doesn’t perform well when it comes to motion isolation. The coils move too freely to stop any motion from rippling to the other side of the bed, which can lead to some uncomfortable circumstances for restless sleepers. If you want a hybrid that does isolate motion well, consider the Emma Performance.
Best Cooling – Octave Horizon

Best Cooling
Octave Horizon excelled at our temperature control tests, which is rare for a full memory foam mattress.
- Temperature Control: 9.4/10
- Motion Isolation: 8.5/10
- Edge Support: 8.9/10
- Pressure Relief: 9.8/10
- Bounce: 7.8/10
- Eco: 9.0/10
- Response: 9.8/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.5/10
- Policies: 10/10
Highlights
- Offers extreme pressure relief, ideal for heavier side sleepers
- Materials respond quickly so you can move into a more comfortable position
- Cooling features reduce temperature quickly so you can sleep better
“I didn’t realize how poorly I’d been sleeping since I switched to this mattress. It’s perfectly cool and has the pressure relief I need.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Octave Horizon)
Octave Horizon Mattress Construction
- CryoFusion Cooling Cover. A powerful cooling cover begins the construction of this mattress. The cover is a soft material that is woven with CryoFusion nanofibres. These fibres wick away heat and moisture to keep you comfortable and content throughout the night.
- 2.5” CopperGel Memory Foam. The top layer of foam is infused with copper to conduct heat away from you. This thick, comfortable layer also helps relieve pressure. Between the cover and the top layer of foam are bands of PolarMAX, a phase-changing material that aims to maintain a consistent temperature throughout the night.
- 1.5” Aerated Latex. A layer of latex helps the mattress remain responsive and eliminates the quicksand feeling of memory foam. Thousands of tiny perforations increase breathability for a cooler mattress overall.
- 2” ecoLuxe Cooling Foam. ecoLuxe cooling foam helps reduce heat, moving it to the coolest parts of the mattress so it doesn’t build up under you. This layer is made with less carbon input than standard memory foam.
- 2” Elastex Foam. A layer of latex alternative foam provides some cushion for the coil layer. This material is extremely responsive and comfortable, keeping you lifted out of the mattress and cushioning deep pressure points.
- 6” Support Foam. The thick support foam base uses air channels to direct hot air away from you. This layer also helps with support, alignment, and overall comfort beyond what the layers above can provide.
Octave Horizon Mattress Performance Scores

Temperature Control – 9.4/10
Phase-changing material, aerated latex, cooling foams, and more combine to reduce heat build-up throughout the mattress. If you often sleep hot, this mattress may help you sleep cooler. During our heat-mapping tests, we noticed that heat didn’t have a chance to build up within the mattress. The various cooling measures quickly dealt with any heat that presented itself.
Motion Isolation – 8.5/10
It was surprising to us that this mattress didn’t perform well when it came to motion isolation. Our practical tests left our testers feeling a little uncomfortable, while simulation tests revealed that quite a bit of vibration could be felt from the other side of the mattress. These issues were bad enough to be notable, particularly for those who wake up easily and often.
Pressure Relief- 9.8/10
Thick comfort layers lead to better pressure relief, reducing discomfort and improving outcomes across the board. This mattress offers some of the thickest comfort layers we’ve seen, so, of course, it provides a better defence against pressure. Testers noted that they woke feeling refreshed and without some of their typical discomforts because of the more comfortable materials.
Ease of Movement – 9.5/10
The materials used throughout the Octave Horizon respond quickly, rushing to reform when you move out of an indent. Our testers went a few rounds with the mattress, and each time they noted that it was easy to move around. Even after they lay in the same spot for a long time, moving didn’t require any additional effort. They could resettle and get comfortable again with minimal issues.
Who is the Octave Horizon For?
- Active Canadians. It’s easy to move around on the surface of the Octave Horizon, making it ideal for those who often change positions in the middle of the night.
- Those who need pressure relief. Thick comfort layers reduce pressure and discomfort, so you can sleep well regardless of how long you stay in one position. Side sleepers will love the way this mattress feels.
- Hot sleepers. The temperature control features isolate heat and move it away from you, providing some of the best conditions for those who typically sleep hot.
Who Should Avoid the Octave Horizon?
- Couples and restless partners. If you wake up at every little movement, the Octave Horizon might not be the best option for you. It doesn’t isolate motion as well as we hoped.

Because it is an all-foam mattress, the Octave Horizon doesn’t offer the best bounce. If you need your mattress to respond to your movements, consider the Emma Performance. It’s a hybrid that has responsive bounce for those who prefer it.
Best Specialty Foams – Emma Performance

Best Specialty Foams
Emma Performance uses a variety of proprietary materials to create a unique feel you won't find anywhere else.
- Temperature Control: 9.2/10
- Motion Isolation: 10/10
- Edge Support: 9.0/10
- Pressure Relief: 8.7/10
- Bounce: 9.6/10
- Eco: 7.0/10
- Response: 9.7/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.6/10
- Policies: 9/10
Highlights
- Extreme motion isolation for couples with restless partners
- Specialty foam layers help create a unique feel
- Upgraded cover improves breathability and temperature control
“This is the first mattress we’ve ever agreed on. We’re both sleeping better than ever thanks to the lack of motion transfer!”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Emma Performance)
Emma Performance Mattress Construction

- Ultra-Dry Cover. The cover of the Emma Hybrid Premium Plus is an upgrade from the standard cover available in the Emma Hybrid Premium mattress. It features better cooling and helps wick away heat to reduce night sweats. It’s also removable and washable, so you can easily refresh your mattress.
- 0.75” Thermosync Foam. A thin layer of foam is infused with graphite. It uses this natural infusion to get the heat away from you, conducting it away and neutralizing it to help refresh your mattress.
- 0.5” AirgoCell Foam. Open-cell elastic foam comes next, with a formula that doesn’t allow heat to build up. It’s extremely breathable, cycling cooler air up through the mattress.
- 0.5” MemoryAdapt Foam. This specialty memory foam contours to your body to reduce pressure, reduce motion, and distribute your weight evenly.
- 0.75” HRX Foam. This supportive foam elevates you out of the firmer coil layer, with a unique support map that adapts to your body.
- 8” Pocket Coil Layer. A layer of thick edge-to-edge sprocket coils helps support you, aligning your body and reducing strain. They are firmer where you need them and softer where they need to relieve pressure.
- 3.5” Support Foam. A foundation layer of high-density support foam helps the mattress keep its shape for longer. You’ll feel less motion transfer because of this layer, and your mattress will feel comfortable for longer.
Emma Performance Performance Scores

Temperature Control – 9.2/10
The cooling foams used at the top of this mattress reduce heat and vent it quickly when it builds up. The coils are extremely breathable, pushing cooler air up through the layers and driving away heat. While this mattress allows some heat to build up, it doesn’t let it settle for long. The layers are extremely breathable.
Motion Isolation – 10/10
Despite being a hybrid mattress that uses pocket coils in the base, the Emma offers amazing motion isolation. The layers of foam, including the 3.5” Support Foam at the base, help isolate any movement from the other side of the bed. Practical testers didn’t feel anything from the other side of the bed, even with larger motions. Simulation tests with weighted balls returned similar results.
Pressure Relief – 8.7/10
Pressure relief is one of the areas where the Emma Performance could improve. The comfort layers are thinner than you might expect, especially because there are so many distinct materials. As a result, most sleepers will experience some pressure and may even develop pressure points. Our heavier testers had the worst time with this mattress when it came to pressure.
Ease of Movement – 9.6/10
The layers of proprietary foams allow for easy movement across the surface of the mattress. High-density foams and supportive elements keep you lifted out of the mattress and respond quickly. As a result, you won’t feel stuck in place, even if you’ve been in the same position for a while. Our testers mentioned that they felt no resistance when changing positions.
Who is the Emma Hybrid Premium Plus For?
- Couples with restless partners. Despite being a hybrid mattress, the Emma Performance has surprisingly strong motion isolation. Those with restless partners can sleep comfortably with almost no motion isolation.
- Canadians who sleep warm. The temperature control features and breathability within the Emma Performance make it ideal for those who sleep warm.
- Combination and active sleepers. If you move around a lot at night, you may need a mattress that doesn’t make you feel stuck. It’s easy to move around on the Emma Performance thanks to its responsive materials.
Who Should Avoid the Emma Performance?
- Heavier sleepers. Canadians who need better pressure relief should avoid this mattress, as it offers less pressure relief than most other options on our list.

The Emma Performance performs well in nearly every area, but it lacks a bit of pressure relief. This may be important for side sleepers or heavier sleepers.
