Our Unbiased Mattress Testing Process

Our Scoring Process for Our Unbiased Mattress Reviews
Each performance area is scored out of 10. A higher score means it offers much better performance in that area. A 10/10 or ‘perfect’ score means the mattress will be ideal for the widest range of Canadians. These are the best mattresses in Canada. These scores are calculated and aggregated over multiple testing methods and rounds.
Our Unbiased Mattress Tests
We use a two-stage process to test all Canadian mattresses. First, we use weight drop tests, sinkage measurements, temperature maps, and a host of other testing methods to get raw data on how the mattress performs. Then, our team of testers uses the mattresses at home for varying lengths of time. Our diverse team gives us feedback on their experience, which we use to calculate our scores.
How We Chose Our Bed in a Box Mattresses
The mattresses on our list were chosen because of the results of all our testing and examinations. We compile all the results from testers and practical tests and use them to create scores and recommendations for our readers.

“The Logan & Cove Pinnacle is a truly luxurious sleep experience. I’ve never been as well-rested as I am on this mattress.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Logan & Cove Pinnacle)
Logan & Cove Pinnacle Mattress Construction
- 1.5” Quilted Euro-Top Cover. The Euro-Top cover integrates CryoFusion cooling nanofibres, hollow-fibre fill, and cooling gel foam to reduce heat and provide a cloud-like sleeping surface.
- 1” ecoLuxe Cooling Gel Foam. The top layer of ecoLuxe Cooling Gel foam contours to your body and pulls heat away from you, maintaining a cooler temperature throughout the night.
- 1” Aeroduct Micro Coils. The first layer of Aeroduct Micro Coils allows the foam layers to cradle your body, providing a custom support map that reduces strain.
- 1” Premium Elastex Foam. This transition layer cradles deep pressure points and provides a buffer between the micro coil layers.
- 1” Aeroduct Micro Coils. An additional micro coil layer provides another cooling channel and keeps your body lifted out of the coils. This layer is unique to this Logan & Cove mattress.
- 9” Pocketed Coils with Reinforced Edge Support. The base coil layer features zoned pocket coils, which are firmer across the centre of the mattress to support your spine properly.

Logan & Cove Pinnacle Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 9.2/10
The multiple layers of coils and coiling foams within the Logan & Cove Pinnacle make it a great option for those who usually sleep hot. We noticed that the mattress heated slowly and cooled quickly once testers moved out of the spot they’d been lying in. This is a really good sign for heat distribution within the mattress.
Motion Isolation – 6.4/10
Motion isolation was one area where the Logan & Cove Pinnacle could perform better. Our testers noticed motion from the other side of the bed, but only the lightest sleepers were disturbed by it. If you need a mattress that stays still no matter what, this may not be the right option for you.
Pressure Relief – 9.1/10
Deep sinkage leads to deep pressure relief. However, despite the Pinnacle’s deeper sinkage, it doesn’t have the deeper memory foam ‘hug’ thanks to the coil layers. However, we loved the balance and pressure relief in this mattress. Our testers who don’t like a deeper memory foam ‘hug’ agreed.
Ease of Movement – 9.0/10
It’s easier to move around on the Logan & Cove Pinnacle than you might think. That’s because the foam reforms quickly, and a quick response time limits feeling ‘stuck’ in the mattress. Combination sleepers reported that is was comfortable and easy to move around on the surface of the mattress.
Who is the Logan & Cove Pinnacle For?
- Side sleepers. The dual coil layers and pressure relief properties of this mattress make it ideal for side sleepers. Plus, zoned coils keep your spine in proper alignment to avoid aches.
- Those who move around a lot at night. A quick response time means it’s easier to move around on the surface of the mattress, even if the surface is pillowy and soft.
- Edge sleepers. If you sit or sleep near the edge of the bed, the thick perimeter will prevent sagging. Even our heavier testers reported minimal loss of support at the edges.
Who Should Avoid the Logan & Cove Pinnacle?
- Restless Couples. The only area where the Logan & Cove Pinnacle could do better is motion isolation. If you often wake up when your partner moves around, you may need a mattress that isolates motion better than this one.

Alternative Option
The Logan & Cove Pinnacle could isolate motion better. Because of the coils in the support layer of the mattress, motion can move more easily across the bed. The Douglas Summit, an all-foam mattress, got a perfect motion isolation score from us. If this is your main issue with your current mattress, Douglas Summit might be a better option.
Best All Foam – Douglas Summit

Best All Foam
The Douglas Summit offers ideal motion isolation, edge support, and–most importantly–pressure relief. Its outstanding performance is why we’ve chosen it as our best all-foam mattress in Canada.
- Temperature Control: 9.2/10
- Motion Isolation: 10/10
- Edge Support: 9.7/10
- Pressure Relief: 10/10
- Bounce: 7.5/10
- Eco: 9.3/10
- Response: 10/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.9/10
- Policies: 10/10
Highlights
- Extreme pressure relief for heavier sleepers, particularly heavier side sleepers
- Perfect motion isolation scores mean you feel nothing from the other side of the bed
- One of the best-performing mattresses in Canada across multiple categories
“The Summit is like nothing we’ve ever felt. While we didn’t know that we wanted a memory foam mattress to begin with, we’re glad we chose the Summit.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Douglas Summit)
Douglas Summit Mattress Construction
- Douglas CoolSense Cover with CryoFusion Cooling Nanofibres. The cover uses sustainable Infinitex threads woven with CryoFusion nanofibres to create a cool, comfortable surface. This cover is removable and machine washable.
- 2.5” Luxury ecoLight Gel Foam with Polar Temperature Balancing. The first layer of foam is ecoLight, a cooling gel foam made with less carbon than standard memory foam. This layer isolates heat, assisted by a layer of Polar Temperature Balancing fabric, a phase-changing material that maintains perfect temperature throughout the night.
- 2.5” Premium Elastex Foam. A transitional layer of Elastex, a latex alternative, separates the layers and cushions your deepest pressure points.
- 7” Motion Isolation Support Foam. A layer of supportive core foam isolates motion and keeps your body supported and aligned for peaceful sleep.

Douglas Summit Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 9.2/10
Phase-changing materials and cooling foam reduce heat at the top of the mattress, avoiding the traditional temperature control issues associated with foam mattresses. We noted that the base temperature rose slowly and dissipated quickly once our testers moved away.
Motion Isolation – 10/10
Douglas Summit is one of the best mattresses in Canada for motion isolation. It’s one of the only mattresses we’ve ever reviewed to receive a perfect motion isolation score from us. The bed was entirely still, even with tossing and turning.
Pressure Relief – 10/10
This mattress also receives a perfect score for pressure relief. Even our heavier testers who slept on their sides reported close to zero strain and no pressure points, which prompted us to award it our highest score ever.
Ease of Movement – 9.9/10
Despite the foam construction and sinkage properties, it’s extremely easy to move around on the Douglas Summit. We tested this mattress with sleepers who needed to move around a lot, and most were able to get comfortable quickly and without feeling stuck.
Who is the Douglas Summit For?
- Side sleepers. Side sleeper value alignment and pressure relief above all else. Our side-sleeping testers were surprised at how well this mattress worked for them. They reported fewer aches and greatly reduced pressure points.
- Couples. Does your restless partner wake you up? This mattress keeps the entire bed still, reducing any disturbance from the other side of the bed.
- Combination sleepers. The quick response time from this mattress makes it ideal for those who move around a lot at night. We never felt stuck in the mattress, and never felt as though we were too deep in the layers, even with significant sinkage.
Who Should Avoid the Douglas Summit?
- Stomach sleepers. While the deep pressure relief and strong support are great for stomach sleepers, the deeper sinkage profile means they are more at risk of strain, especially on their lower backs.

Alternative Option
The Douglas Summit does a lot of things right, but it doesn’t provide a lot of feedback when you move around. Some Canadians might need this feedback. If that sounds like you, I’d recommend the Silk & Snow Hybrid mattress. Though it is a hybrid (and therefore a more expensive option), the coils allow for extra bounce that all-foam mattresses can lack.
Best Hybrid – Silk & Snow Hybrid

Best Hybrid
The Silk & Snow Hybrid is unlike any other hybrid we’ve reviewed. Three firmness options, motion isolation, and great pressure relief truly make this mattress the best of both worlds.
- Temperature Control: 8.9/10
- Motion Isolation: 9.2/10
- Edge Support: 9.7/10
- Pressure Relief: 8.6/10
- Bounce: 9.1/10
- Eco: 9.0/10
- Response: 9.3/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.4/10
- Policies: 8.7/10
Highlights
- Three firmness options ranging from Firm to Plush
- Cooling features reduce discomfort throughout the night
- Better motion isolation than most hybrid mattresses
“It was difficult to find a hybrid mattress that helped me stay asleep when my partner was moving around, but the Silk & Snow Hybrid hasn’t let me down yet.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Silk & Snow Hybrid)
Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress Construction
Firm Version
- Antimicrobial Cover. The cover of the Silk & Snow Hybrid is made of an antimicrobial material that prevents bacteria growth and reduces odours.
- Quilted Layer. A top layer of quilted foam helps the top of the mattress stay comfortable, even if the rest of the mattress has a firmer feel.
- 1” Supportive Relief Layer. The middle layer is 1” of high-quality foam, which is supportive and helps reduce pressure points.
- 9” Zoned Pocket Coil Base. The base of the mattress is made with 9” pocket coils. They are zoned, with firmer coils in the middle of the mattress to reduce strain and extra sinkage.
- Edge Support Perimeter. A perimeter of edge support foam keeps the edges from sagging and sinking.
Medium Firm Version
- Antimicrobial Cover. The cover prevents the growth of bacteria, keeping your bed fresh.
- 1” Quilted Cooling Foam. Quilted cooling foam adds additional plushness and reduces pressure as you sleep.
- 2” High Density Gel Memory Foam. A middle layer of thick high-density gel foam adds plushness, reduces discomfort, and keeps your body lifted out of the coils.
- 8” Zoned Pocket Coil Base. The coil base keeps you well-supported and properly aligned. Firmer coils through the centre of the mattress support your back and hips, while softer coils at the top and bottom reduce pressure at your shoulders and knees.
- Edge Support Perimeter. Firm edge support foam keeps the edges firm and supportive when sitting or sleeping there.
Plush Version
- Antimicrobial Cover. Though this fabric isn’t removable, the antimicrobial technologies reduce odours and completely restrict bacterial growth.
- Cooling Fabric. A thin layer of cooling fabric helps the surface of the mattress stay cool, reducing heat and drawing moisture away throughout the night.
- Quilted Layer. A quilted layer of foam reduces heat and maintains plushness at the top of the mattress.
- 2” High-Density Memory Foam. This first layer of memory foam helps reduce pressure, eliminating uncomfortable pressure points that may form
- 2” High-Density Transition Layer. A transition layer of high-density foam cushions deeper pressure points, balances your body, and reduces strain throughout the mattress.
- 8” Zoned Pocket Coil Base. A supportive pocket coil base uses up to 1200 coils to produce perfect balance. Zoned coils produce less sinkage on your hips and lower back for stronger support you can count on.
- Edge Support Perimeter. Sit or sleep on the edge? The edge support layer in the Silk & Snow hybrid ensures that you aren’t sliding off the bed or dealing with uncomfortable sagging.

Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 8.9/10
Silk & Snow Hybrid has a lot of airflow from the coils, which leads to better airflow overall. While temperature didn’t dissipate as quickly as we would like, the base temperature was slow to rise. Those who don’t sleep too hot should be comfortable on this mattress.
Motion Isolation – 9.2/10
For a hybrid mattress, this option has great motion isolation. Though it didn’t receive a perfect score, this mattress really surprised our testers with how much motion it suppressed from one side of the bed to the other.
Pressure Relief – 8.6/10
The Silk & Snow Hybrid offers moderate pressure relief. While it didn’t outperform some of the other options on our list, we got good results in this area based on preliminary testing and tester feedback.
Ease of Movement – 9.4/10
Getting situated in the middle of the night can be uncomfortable, and it’s easy to feel ‘stuck’ in a mattress that uses foam layers. The Silk & Snow Hybrid is responsive despite its foam layers, so you can move freely and get comfortable.
Who is the Silk & Snow Hybrid For?
- Side and stomach sleepers. While the firmness options ensure that this mattress could be great for anyone, its construction is ideal for stomach and side sleepers first.
- Those who know what they want. Multiple firmness options allow you to choose the options that work best for you without compromise.
- Restless couples. This mattress has a high motion isolation score for a hybrid mattress, so it’s a great choice for couples and restless partners.
Who Should Avoid the Silk & Snow Hybrid?
- Hot sleepers. Silk & Snow Hybrid is a relatively cool mattress, but it might not have enough cooling for those who sleep hot.
Factor | Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress |
Price | $900 (Firm), $1000 (Medium Firm), $1450 (Plush) (Queen) |
Sizes | Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, California King |
Firmness | Firm, Medium Firm, or Plush |
Sinkage | ⚠️ 5.9 cm |

Support Layer Height | 9” |

Warranty | 15 Years |
Alternative Option
If motion isolation isn’t an issue for you, perhaps consider the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow. This hybrid is more expensive, but it performs a little better across multiple categories when compared to the Silk & Snow Hybrid.
Best Budget – Octave Mirage

Best Budget
Octave Mirage offers stunning performance for its price point. This mattress has perfect pressure relief scores and enhanced temperature control without breaking the bank.
- Temperature Control: 9.3/10
- Motion Isolation: 8.2/10
- Edge Support: 8.6/10
- Pressure Relief: 10/10
- Bounce: 8.2/10
- Eco: 8.5/10
- Response: 8.9/10
- Ease of Movement: 8.6/10
- Policies: 9/10
Highlights
- Extreme pressure relief for side sleepers
- Cooling features reduce temperature throughout the night
- Lower price point than many comparable mattresses
“We didn’t expect to like this mattress as much as we do. We were pleasantly surprised that it felt extremely comfortable and helped us sleep better overall.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Octave Mirage)
Octave Mirage Mattress Construction
- CryoFusion Cooling Nanofibre Cover. A cooling cover provides refreshing sleep that wicks away heat and moisture all night long.
- 2.5” CopperGel Memory Foam + PolarMAX. The top layer within the mattress is an open-cell copper-infused memory foam. This layer is infused with PolarMAX phase-changing material to provide more intense cooling.
- 1.5” Aerated Latex Foam. Aerated latex won’t retain heat. Hundreds of perforations allow air to move freely through the mattress, reducing temperatures and providing natural bounce and responsiveness.
- 2” Premium Elastex Foam. Elastex, a latex alternative, is a responsive foam that maintains balance, reduces deep pressure points, and isolates motion.
- 6” Multi-Zone Support Foam with Air Channels. The supportive core of the mattress is made with high-density foam with built-in air channels. This layer keeps you balanced and helps reduce temperatures throughout the mattress.

Octave Mirage Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 9.3/10
Octave Mirage’s multiple cooling layers really help reduce heat, moving it away from you so you won’t overheat during the night. Core temperatures rose slowly during our testing phase, and heat dissipated quickly once our testers moved away.
Motion Isolation 8.2/10
Motion isolation isn’t Octave Mirage’s greatest strength. While it does a good job of isolating motion, some movement can still be felt on the other side of the bed.
Pressure Relief – 10/10
However, the Mirage really shines when it comes to pressure relief. This mattress has one of the only perfect pressure relief scores we’ve ever given out. Its dense materials and high-quality foams nearly eliminate pressure points for most sleepers.
Ease of Movement – 8.6/10
Octave Mirage doesn’t have a traditional memory foam ‘hug’, but it can still be a little difficult to move around on sometimes. This score is high enough for us to say that combination sleepers shouldn’t have a problem, though.
Who is the Octave Mirage for?
- Side and back sleepers. Side and back sleepers will have the easiest time on this mattress. Some stomach sleepers may appreciate it as well, but it lacks the stronger support that most will need.
- Those who need pressure relief. Octave Mirage offers deep pressure relief from its layers of foam, so sleepers who usually deal with pressure points can sleep a little easier.
- Those who sleep warm. The temperature control features in this mattress make it ideal for those who usually overheat as they sleep.
Who Should Avoid the Octave Mirage?
- Couples and co-sleepers. If you need a mattress that isolates motion, there are other options that perform better than the Octave Mirage.
Factor | Octave Mirage Mattress |

Sizes | Twin, Twin XL, Full/Double, Queen, King, California King, Split King |

If you want a mattress that performs a little better in most categories, consider the Douglas Summit. It isolates motion better than the Octave Mirage and offers the same perfect level of pressure relief.
Best Motion Isolation – Endy Mattress

Best Motion Isolation
For a long time, Endy has been the best mattress in Canada for couples. Its strong motion isolation and responsiveness allow it to offer something unique.
- Temperature Control: 9.3/10
- Motion Isolation: 9.6/10
- Edge Support: 9.7/10
- Pressure Relief: 8.1/10
- Bounce: 9.9/10
- Eco: 8/10
- Response: 10/10
- Ease of Movement: 10/10
- Policies: 8/10
Highlights
- Extreme response and bounce for an all-foam mattress
- Surprising temperature control in our unbiased mattress tests
- Strong motion isolation for couples
“I have no regrets about buying the Endy mattress and would do so again. Its motion isolation and support were perfect for me.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Endy Mattress)
Endy Mattress Construction
- Micro Quilted Cover. The cover of the Endy mattress is unique and instantly recognizable. The cover is extremely breathable and can be removed and washed at home.
- Endy Comfort Foam. A top layer of Endy Comfort Foam is perfectly responsive, cradling your body without reducing the free range of movement.
- Transition Foam. A middle layer of transition foam cushions your body, reducing pressure where it tends to gather. This layer also helps isolate motion.
- Support Foam. The supportive core of the mattress balances your body to improve sleep outcomes night after night.
Note that Endy offers multiple firmness options. The construction of these firmness options is the same, but the thickness of the layers changes to create a softer or firmer feel. We’re looking at the Medium Firm version of the Endy Mattress for the purposes of this review.

Endy Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 9.3/10
Though the Endy mattress doesn’t use any cooling features, it ends up with a better cooling score than some of the other mattresses we’ve looked at. We noted that the core of the mattress was slow to heat and quick to disperse, meaning this mattress will be great for those who usually sleep too hot.
Motion Isolation – 9.6/10
Motion isolation is where Endy shines. For years, they’ve had industry-leading motion isolation. No matter how much your partner tosses and turns, the Endy will be still and comfortable.
Pressure Relief – 8.1/10
Endy has decent pressure relief for its price range, but it could do better here. Part of the problem is the thinner comfort layers, which can sometimes cause heavier sleepers to bottom out and avoid the full benefit of the mattress.
Ease of Movement – 10/10
The foam layers within the Endy Mattress are extremely responsive and reform quickly. This means that most Canadians were able to move around easily, avoiding the ‘stuck’ feeling that usually comes with memory foam mattresses.
Who is the Endy Mattress For?
- Canadians who move around a lot. The Endy makes it easy to move around, responding quickly to any movement and reforming fast enough that you don’t feel stuck.
- Those with different preferences. Multiple firmness options allow you to choose the mattress that works for you, rather than sticking to the only available option.
- Warm sleepers. Despite not having any cooling materials, the Endy mattress offers excellent cooling properties for an all-foam mattress.
Who Should Avoid the Endy Mattress?
- Heavier side sleepers. It’s easy to bottom out in the Endy mattress, so heavier side sleepers should look for a mattress that offers a thicker support layer. The Plush version of this mattress is also an option.
Factor | Endy Mattress |
Price | $895 (Queen) |
Sizes | Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, California King |
Firmness | Medium |
Sinkage | ✅ 3.7 cm |
Response Time | ✅ 0.2 sec |

Bounce | ✅ Strong |
Sleeping Position | ✅ Side Sleeper ✅ Back Sleeper ⚠️ Stomach Sleeper |
Comfort Layer Height | 2.0” |
Support Layer Height | 10” |
Sleep Trial | 100 Nights |
Warranty | 15 Years |
Alternative Option
Pressure relief is one of the areas where the Endy doesn’t perform so well, especially when compared to some of the other options on our list. We recommend the Octave Mirage or the Douglas Summit for better pressure relief, especially if this is one of the areas you absolutely need.

— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Casper Wave Hybrid Snow)
Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress Construction
- Quick Cool Cover with Casper Edge Support. A breathable fabric cover is the first line of defense against heat. This cover includes additional edge support stitching, improving the way the edges feel.
- Casper Signature Foam with Cooling Gel & AirScape Technology. Airscape perforated foam works together with phase-changing materials and Casper’s signature foam feel to deliver cooling and comfort at the top of the mattress.
- HeatDelete Bands. Two bands of extreme, proprietary phase-changing materials help reduce heat for 12+ hours, ensuring that you get a proper night of rest without waking up too hot.
- Premium Memory Foam with AirScape Technology. Premium memory foam cushions deep pressure points to reduce aches and discomfort. This layer is also well-ventilated for perfect cooling.
- Latex with AirScape Technology. A layer of zoned latex helps keep your body aligned, with firmer foam in the centre for better ergonomics around your hips and lower back.
- Align Foam with Gel Support Pods. Casper’s proprietary align foam is wave-shaped to provide the perfect support where you need it most. Up to 82 embedded gel pods help the firmer parts of the mattress stay firm.
- Flex Coils. Individually pocketed coils create a firm supportive core. These coils are flexible enough to provide you better support where you need it most, reducing motion transfer and keeping your body aligned.
- Edge Support Perimeter. A perimeter of edge support foam firms up the edges, eliminating sinking and sagging when you sit on the side of the bed.

Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 9.4/10
A host of cooling materials keeps you from overheating in this mattress. Perforated foams, phase-changing materials, and constant airflow reduce heat at the surface of the mattress.
Motion Isolation – 7.0/10
If there is one area where the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow doesn’t perform as well, it’s motion isolation. This mattress still moves a lot when your partner moves around, and our tests turned out subpar results when compared to other mattresses on our list.
Pressure Relief – 10/10
The proprietary materials within the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow allow for outstanding pressure relief. The deeper sinkage of this mattress means it relieves a lot of pressure, but the materials are strong enough that you won’t bottom out.
Ease of Movement – 9.5/10
Most of the foam layers in the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow respond extremely quickly. Testers reported that they never felt stuck despite the deeper sinkage of this mattress.
Who is the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow For?
- Those who sleep hot. The multiple cooling features within the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow make it one of the best choices for those who regularly overheat. It keeps you cool and comfortable throughout the night.
- Side sleepers. Side sleepers need better pressure relief to stay comfortable, and the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow has a perfect pressure relief score. Side sleepers will love this mattress.
- Edge sleepers. The edges of the Casper Wave Hybrid snow are extremely firm and well-supported, even when you sit or sleep near the edge.
Who Should Avoid the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow?
- Couples and light sleepers. If you often wake up when your partner tosses and turns, this might not be the right mattress for you. While it offers minimal motion isolation, it doesn’t perform well when compared with other options in Canada.
