Motion Isolation – 10/10

Because of its thick comfort layers, the Douglas Summit offered outstanding motion isolation. This mattress springs back quickly but also dampens motion from the other side of the bed. Our practical test results were the most telling. The resting tester barely felt motion from the other side of the bed, even after repeated large motions.

Pressure Relief- 10/10

The construction of the mattress also promotes better pressure relief. Our sinkage results showed that you could sink far enough into the mattress to reduce discomfort without feeling the support layers. Testers reported that they didn’t feel uncomfortable after hours of use. Even side sleepers didn’t sink far enough into the mattress to form pressure points.

Despite its pressure relief scores, the Douglas Summit is extremely easy to move around on. The materials bounce back quickly, especially as you turn over. Combination sleepers and those who move around a lot at night will feel comfortable on this mattress. We witness extremely fast response times with full recovery after less than a second.

Octave Vista is the basic mattress offered by Octave. Despite this, it still uses some high-tech materials. It performs moderately well in most areas, with better edge support than most of the other options on our list. This mattress is a great low-cost option that works well for most Canadians.

Temperature Control – 8.2/10

The Octave Vista performs well enough for those who sleep warm, but the copper-infused gel foam doesn’t work well with increased heat. Though all of the ingredients of a cooling mattress are here, we noted markedly warmer temperatures than we expected throughout the core of the mattress. Our warmer testers heated a bit after some time on the mattress. 

Motion Isolation – 8.5/10

The foam layers may not be deep enough for better motion isolation. The comfort layers within the Octave Vista aren’t very thick, so you can feel a lot of motion throughout the mattress. Still, those who don’t move around too much will experience better results than those with truly restless partners. Both our ball drop and practical tests returned moderate results.

Pressure Relief- 8.3/10

Minimal bounce and moderate sinkage lead to average pressure relief. Heavier sleepers may need to look elsewhere. Our heavier testing group noted that they could feel the firm support layers beneath them when they lay on the mattress. Average sleepers didn’t have the same problem, though side sleepers still preferred mattresses with better pressure relief scores. 

Ease of Movement – 9.2/10

The minimal bounce levels don’t prohibit motion entirely, though. While it doesn’t respond as quickly as our fastest mattresses, the Octave Vista still sprang back to its original shape quickly enough. It was easy to turn over and change position with minimal interference from the mattress. This feedback was consistent across our testing groups. 

Who is the Octave Vista Mattress For? 

• Canadians who move around a lot. It’s easy to move around on this mattress without feeling stuck, which makes it a good option for those who move around a lot in their sleep.
• Those who sleep warm. Phase-changing materials and copper-infused memory foam work to reduce most heat from your body. Those who sleep a little warmer will love it. 
• Edge sleepers. Despite being an all-foam mattress, the Octave Vista offers some of the best edge support on the Canadian market. This is especially notable because of the all-foam construction, which usually loses support close to the edges.

The original all-foam Endy Mattress has a lot going for it. It performs exceptionally well in most of the areas we tested, which we honestly didn’t expect. Bounce, motion isolation, and edge support are just some of the areas where this mattress excels. It’s extremely responsive and easy to move around on the surface of the mattress, too.

• Micro Quilted Cover. The stretchy cover of the Endy Mattress is quilted and machine-washable. It’s extremely soft and breathable, so it feels great on its own and under your favourite sheets. 
• Endy Comfort Foam. Endy’s open-cell proprietary foam traps heat and motion, keeping you undisturbed throughout the night. This layer makes a comfortable first layer to ease you to sleep. 
• Transition Foam. The middle layer of transition foam provides better pressure relief than the top layer. It works to target pressure points so you wake up feeling refreshed rather than uncomfortable.
• Support Foam. This supportive base layer is durable and resists sagging. This layer makes up most of the mattress and does its best to dampen motion as it happens. It also aligns your body, reducing strain and discomfort.

Temperature Control – 9.3/10

The Endy performs well in most areas. We didn’t expect it to do so well when it came to temperature control, especially considering that it doesn’t use any active cooling features. However, this mattress dissipates heat quickly and effectively. Our tests revealed that the heat within the core of the mattress peaked after some time, and then quickly dissipated.

Motion Isolation – 9.6/10

The open-cell foams within the Endy mattress isolate motion well. The foam dampens most movement. In our practical and weight-drop tests, we noticed a significant decrease in the intensity of movements transferring from one side of the bed to the other. Testers felt very little from the other side of the bed, meaning restless sleepers won’t disturb their partners.

Pressure Relief- 8.1/10

Surprisingly, the Endy didn’t perform as well when it came to pressure relief. Our testers of all sizes felt like they were lifted out of the mattress, but only to a point. The mattress didn’t cushion their joints or keep them comfortable after a few hours of use, though those that moved around more felt noticeably better when they got up.

Ease of Movement – 10/10

However, the open-cell foam also promotes better ease of movement. It’s simple to move around on top of the Endy mattress, with a response time that makes turning extremely easy. The foam is fully recovered in a few tenths of a second, which leads to better comfort and fewer issues when you turn over in the middle of the night.

Who is the Endy Mattress For? 

• Couples and co-sleepers. Multiple layers within this mattress stop motion as it happens, leading to better motion isolation and better conditions for those who sleep light.
• Edge sleepers. The edge support on the Endy mattress is great for those who sit or sleep close to the edge. The strong support here prevents sagging.
• Users who like bounce. Despite its great motion isolation and pressure relief, this mattress offers some bounce. If you need a little material feedback, this is the right memory foam mattress for you.

Juno uses a Cool+ breathable cover and a layer of cooling gel foam to reduce the temperature at the surface of the mattress. While some heat does build up, it does a good job of lowering the core mattress temperature over time. Our testers who slept hot experienced some night sweating, but those who only slept a little warmer were fine throughout their testing periods.

Motion Isolation – 8.0/10

Heavier sleepers who don’t need much motion isolation should enjoy this mattress. It does isolate some of the smaller movements you may feel from the other side of the bed. However, larger movements are apparently and might be disruptive. We noted vibrations from the other side of the bed with every motion.

Pressure Relief – 9.3/10

The pressure relief scores were surprising to us, especially considering the extremely thin comfort layer at the top of this mattress. Of course, Juno also offers moderate-to-strong sinkage levels, so pressure relief was inevitable. Again, heavy side sleepers should avoid this mattress if they need better pressure relief. Our testers sank too far into the mattress and developed uncomfortable pressure points over time.

Ease of Movement – 8.9/10

The Juno Mattress is a thinner option. In fact, it’s one of the thinnest mattresses on the Canadian market. This is understandable considering the price. We thought this would affect how easy it was to move on top of it, and we were right. The Juno mattress provides above-average ease of movement. Our heavier testing group found it a little harder to move around, and the foams performed notably worse after long periods of compression. Still, it responded well in most cases. 

Who is the Juno Mattress For? 

• Canadians on a budget. This mattress is one of the cheapest you’ll find on the Canadian market. If you don’t have a lot to spend, this mattress is much better than an air mattress.
• Lightweight sleepers. Because of the thin comfort layers used within the Juno mattress, we can’t recommend it to heavier sleepers. Lightweight sleepers will enjoy this mattress the most.
• Kids. Since the Juno Mattress comes at a low cost and offers the best performance for lightweight sleepers, it’s one of the best options for kids.
