An Extremely Affordable Hybrid for Couples
DreamCloud is a company under the Resident umbrella. Resident is an umbrella company that focuses on multiple brands of quality home goods. Despite being newer to the Canadian mattress space and offering a mattress at a greatly reduced price, DreamCloud is committed to creating products that help with every aspect of your sleep experience.
This mattress performs about average for a mattress with this type of hybrid construction. Though it didn’t perform super well in some areas, it provided some of the best motion isolation we’ve seen at this price point. Considering how much you’ll pay for this mattress, the performance is much more than we expected for it. Here, we’ll look at how this mattress performed in various testing rounds to see if it will work for you.

Our Methodology
At Slumber, we believe that simply looking at a mattress in a brick-and-mortar store isn’t enough. Mattresses perform differently depending on how you sleep, your body type, and what type of sleep issues you regularly face. This is why we use various levels of testing for our mattresses. We use testers of all different body types and sleeping positions, with an emphasis on complete feedback.
We also use simulation testing to determine how a mattress will perform in circumstances we can’t reproduce. We use heat mapping to get actual details about the way the mattress stores heat and how quickly it dissipates, as well as sensors and equipment that determine how much motion transfers from one side of the mattress to the other. These results are combined into average scores that account for all of the information we have. This way, you can rest assured that you are getting the most complete information for your specific sleep conditions.

Mattress Details
The DreamCloud Hybrid mattress is a comfortable hybrid from the US. This mattress is extremely affordable, but is still 14” thick and uses extremely comfortable layers to create your sleep experience. These high-quality materials combined with the lifetime warranty and year-long sleep trial make it an attractive option for many Canadians.
While the shipping is free, it can take up to two weeks for your mattress to ship. This is because it is shipping from the US. However, there is no additional charge for delivery or returns in most locations. All of the foam layers inside the mattress are made with CertiPUR-US-certified foams, including multiple layers of cooling gel-infused memory foam.
This mattress has a classic memory foam “hug” that contours to your body, reducing pressure and providing full-body support. If you like sinking into the mattress, this is the perfect mattress for you. It provides great motion isolation (better than we expected for a hybrid mattress). It also has good bounce and great policies.
- Price: $449 to $1,199

DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress Prices and Sizes
The DreamCloud Hybrid is the company’s basic hybrid model. This option comes at an extremely reduced price for a hybrid, but it certainly doesn’t shy away from providing you with quality materials. This mattress is one of the most affordable hybrids on the Canadian market.
This mattress is available in five standard mattress sizes. It is not available in California King or Split King. If you use a King-sized adjustable bed frame, you can purchase two Twin XL mattresses to achieve the same effect as the Split King size. The Queen, which is the most popular size throughout Canada, is only $899. This is less expensive than some of the other mattress options we’ve covered.
Size | Dimensions | Price |
Twin | 38” x 75” x 14” | $449 |
Twin XL | 38” x 80” x 14” | $599 |
Full | 54” x 75” x 14” | $799 |
Queen | 60” x 80” x 14” | $899 |
King | 76” x 80” x 14” | $1,199 |
Mattress Construction
The DreamCloud Hybrid uses five layers of foam and coils to create a comfortable budget mattress. Unlike other mattresses that sell at much lower prices, it doesn’t shy away from using high-quality materials and thicker comfort layers to help you sleep better. Here’s how the construction compares.
- The Cover: The cover of the DreamCloud Hybrid is made of luxurious, soft cashmere. This cover has moisture-wicking properties, which help dispel heat and wick away sweat in the middle of the night. It sleeps cooler than a standard cover and is extremely soft to the touch.
- The 1st Layer: The first layer of foam inside the DreamCloud Hybrid is quilted gel memory foam. It’s quilted right into the cashmere cover, so you can immediately feel the deep contouring hug. It’s also responsive and reduces heat at the surface of the mattress, which can help reduce build-up and keep you cooler immediately.
- The 3rd Layer: The first layer of foam after the cover is a gel-infused memory foam that helps with deeper contouring. It reduces pressure wherever you push into the mattress, keeping you comfortable even if you sleep on your side.
- The 4th Layer: A transition layer of dynamic gel foam promotes better alignment, helping to keep your spine in the perfect position for sleep. Since so many sleeping positions need perfect alignment to feel more comfortable throughout the night, this is the perfect addition to the mattress.
- The 5th Layer: The fifth layer is the dense, supportive coils that assist with keeping you comfortable throughout the night. These individually pocketed coils are thicker at the edges of the mattress for superior edge support. They also encourage responsiveness and improve airflow.
- The 6th Layer: The final layer of the DreamCloud Hybrid is a layer of stabilizing base foam. It helps keep the structure for the rest of the mattress, reduces sagging, and helps the other layers provide better support.
What sets the DreamCloud apart is the way it offers a thicker construction with better materials than most budget mattresses. This mattress is easily half the price of some of the most luxurious hybrids on the market, but it doesn’t shy away from using high-quality materials.

Mattress Performance Test Results
The scores you see here and throughout our reviews are based on our own tested experience with our mattresses. We look at our results, our experiences, and the feedback from our testers. We also factor in expert opinion to bring you a complete look at how the mattress works.
Temperature Control (8.1/10)
Many Canadians wake up too hot throughout the night. If you are sweaty when you wake up in the morning, you may need a mattress that isolates heat and wicks away moisture to keep you cool. Modern mattresses use many cooling measures, from cooling gel foam to more breathable materials. All of them can help reduce temperature build-up within the mattress. If you sleep hot, you’ll need a mattress that has at least an 8 out of 10 from us.
DreamCloud’s Hybrid mattress isn’t the best option for cooling. For one, it’s the mattress in their lineup that features the fewest cooling measures. However, it doesn’t perform terribly, either. Some of our testers who slept hotter had some issues with heat within the mattress, but most didn’t have any issues at all. This mattress rests just on the line of acceptable options for those who sleep hot, so you should take that into account before you make a purchase.
Motion Isolation (9.5/10)
If you sleep with a restless partner, motion isolation is one of the features you should be most concerned about. This measures how well a mattress can stop motion as it happens, preventing it from travelling to the other side of the bed. This means you can sleep more peacefully when your partner is tossing and turning. If you need strong motion isolation to sleep peacefully, you need a mattress with at least a 7.5 in this category.
The DreamCloud Hybrid performs at its best when it comes to motion isolation. This isn’t something we generally expect from hybrid mattresses, but the materials surrounding the coils do plenty to dampen motion here. We suspect that it’s partially due to the memory foam used in these layers, as most mattresses use latex or polyfoam instead. Memory foam is great at dampening motion to keep you sleeping. Our testers didn’t notice much motion transfer at all, especially not with smaller motions throughout the night.
Edge Support (8.2/10)
The edges of a mattress can often be less supportive than the centre, which can lead to uncomfortable sinking or sagging as you approach the edge. This can make it uncomfortable to sit on the edge of the bed in the morning, but it can also present a problem for those who sleep near the edges of the bed. If you need stronger edge support, you should choose a mattress that has at least a 7 in this category.
The edges of the DreamCloud Hybrid are stronger due to the layer of extremely firm coils that are used there. This means that the edges aren’t supposed to sink as far if you sit there. However, the edge support here isn’t the best we’ve seen either. While the edges are stronger than most mattresses, it doesn’t quite achieve the total support we’d like to see.
Firmness and Feel of the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress
The DreamCloud Hybrid is a medium-firm mattres. We rate each mattress on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being extremely soft and 10 being extremely firm. Using this rating system, the DreamCloud Hybrid falls at about a 6.5. It’s firmer than medium, but it’s not firm enough to be uncomfortable for most sleeping positions.

Even with a firmness rating that’s a little higher on the scale, you should be aware of the way this mattress cradles your body. It feels like a traditional memory foam mattress, so you’ll sink into the layers more than you would with other materials. The sinkage is deep, which may be a problem for heavier Canadians. If you don’t like deeper sinkage, you should avoid this mattress.
That also makes it a bit harder to move around than other mattresses. If you need to move around throughout the night to get comfortable, you may want to consider choosing a mattress that makes it easier to move. The response time here isn’t good enough for those who need to change positions often. However, it does offer some nice bounce for those who need it.
Performance for Different Weights and Sleeping Preferences
One of the trickiest things about shopping for a mattress is that they may perform differently for different people. Your body type and sleeping position go a long way toward informing how a mattress will work for you. If you can’t test a mattress yourself, the advice of someone in those same categories is the next best thing. That’s why we’ve compiled the experiences of our diverse testing groups to bring you the following insights.
Weight Considerations
A mattress can feel different for different body types. Lightweight sleepers may find that a firm mattress is uncomfortable, or that they don’t sink far enough into the mattress to feel any of the benefits it offers. On the other hand, heavier sleepers may sink too far. This can lead to ‘bottoming out’, where you can feel the firm support layers at the bottom of the mattress because the comfort layers don’t offer enough cushion.
The DreamCloud Hybrid has some of these issues. It’s best for lightweight or average sleepers because heavier sleepers often sink too far and end up with uncomfortable pressure points. They may not be able to get the most out of the mattress, especially if all they can feel is the firm coils below. If you weigh more than 250 pounds, this probably isn’t the mattress for you.
Lightweight and average sleepers should be fine, though. The layers provide enough sinkage that even lightweight sleepers should be cradled without the mattress feeling too firm.
Sleeping Positions
Each sleeping position needs a different level of support. They can all experience a mattress differently, so it’s important to get a closer look at how your sleep position can affect the mattress you use. Here’s how the DreamCloud Hybrid performed for our testers in different sleeping positions.
- Side Sleepers: Side sleepers need alignment, support, and pressure relief to remain comfortable on a mattress. This mattress should be okay for most side sleepers, as it offers great alignment and support. However, heavier side sleepers should probably choose a mattress with better pressure relief to prevent back pain.
- Back Sleepers: Back sleepers of all body types need contouring to be comfortable. They need good support, too. The DreamCloud Hybrid delivers both of these features. The memory foam contours to your body while the rest of the mattress delivers great support.
- Stomach Sleepers: Stomach sleepers need a firmer mattress with strong support. Zoned support is preferred. While some stomach sleepers may like the feel of the DreamCloud Hybrid, others may feel as though there isn’t enough support (or that there is too much contouring for their liking).
- Combination Sleepers: Combination sleepers need to be able to move around a lot. They often change positions to get comfortable multiple times throughout the night. Because of this, they need a mattress that responds quickly to their movements. The DreamCloud Hybrid is not responsive, and moving may be more difficult on top of this mattress.
Delivery, Sleep Trials, & Returns
Delivery to Canada from DreamCloud is a bit trickier than with mattresses that are native to the country. Because the mattress ships from the US, it can take up to a month to receive your mattress in some cases. This means you have to wait longer than you would with traditional Canadian mattresses. Still, your sleep trial won’t start until you receive your mattress. Shipping may take up to 14 business days alone.
The 365-night sleep trial allows you to try the mattress before you make a decision. This starts when you receive the mattress, so you’ll have a full year to try it for yourself. If it isn’t for you, returns are simple and easy. Returns are free and don’t require a return fee.
After the first 30 nights of your sleep trial, you can return the mattress if it doesn’t work for you. You’ll get a full refund of your purchase price.
- Shipping Cost: Free
- Time to Delivery: 14 to 30 Business Days
- Courier: Various
- Sleep Trial Length: 365 Nights
- Warranty: Lifetime
- Ease of Return: Free returns and full refunds during sleep trial
Company Background
DreamCloud is an American company that makes mattresses in the US and overseas. This mattress is not native to Canada, and it can take a while to receive one. DreamCloud is under the umbrella of Resident, an American company that makes mostly home goods, including mattresses and bedding. The manufacturing facility for all of North America is located in Indiana in the US.
Commitment to the Environment
DreamCloud and Resident don’t have any obvious environmental commitments. While some companies tell you all about how they are aiming to help the environment, DreamCloud is silent. This means that eco-conscious users are probably better off purchasing a mattress at a company that offers a better commitment. That said, all foams used within the mattress are Certi-PUR US certified to be safe for human use.
DreamCloud Hybrid vs Other DreamCloud Mattresses
DreamCloud makes two other mattresses alongside the Hybrid. Though the Hybrid was their first mattress, they have innovated into several other options as well. Here, we’ll compare the original DreamCloud Hybrid mattress to the DreamCloud Premier and the DreamCloud Premier Rest.
DreamCloud Hybrid vs DreamCloud Premier
The DreamCloud Premier is the midline mattress in DreamCloud’s lineup. The Premier is the same height as the Hybrid but offers a thicker transition layer to help with pressure and support. As such, it performs better than the DreamCloud Hybrid in most circumstances. Keep in mind that this is an upgraded mattress, so its increased performance makes sense.
The real difference here, outside of the increased performance across all categories, is the Premier’s price point. It’s $300 more expensive for a Queen-sized Premier than for the Hybrid, which can make the difference for some. Still, you may believe that the increased pressure relief and support are worth the additional cost.
DreamCloud Hybrid vs DreamCloud Rest
DreamCloud’s Rest Mattress is the highest-tier option it offers. It’s the thickest mattress on their roster, and it costs quite a bit more than the original DreamCloud Hybrid. At 16” high, it uses an additional layer of comfort foam and a thicker transition layer to reduce pressure relief and offer top-notch support.
Honestly, it’s hard to compare how these mattresses react because the Rest is, for all intents and purposes, the better version of the Hybrid. Both are breathable, but the DreamCloud Rest offers better cushion and pressure relief. It also mitigates heat more easily, offering top-notch support and contouring through its layers. It is quite a bit more expensive as a result.
Competing Canadian Mattress Comparisons
In addition to the other mattresses that DreamCloud offers, the DreamCloud Hybrid is directly comparable to a few other popular Canadian mattresses. Here’s how it compares to the Logan & Cove Choice and the Endy Hybrid.
DreamCloud Hybrid vs Logan & Cove Choice

The Logan & Cove Choice is the lowest-tier mattress from Logan & Cove, a luxury mattress company that provides a comfortable experience through all of its mattresses. A plush Euro-top helps reduce pressure and ease you into sleep, reducing pressure and keeping you well-supported. The coil layer is zoned for better lumbar support, too.
Performance-wise, the Choice offers much better support. It has better temperature control and edge support. Its pressure relief is better but not by too much. It bounces fairly well and is ease to move around on. However, the DreamCloud Hybrid has better motion isolation, with a near-total reduction in movement. Meanwhile, testers on the Logan & Cove Choice could feel a lot of the motion from the other side of the mattress.
DreamCloud Hybrid vs Endy Hybrid

The Endy Hybrid is Endy’s best option for those who need a little more support. This mattress uses three layers of foam and coils to support your body, reducing temperatures and keeping you comfortable at all times during the night. It doesn’t offer the same level of motion isolation as the all-foam Endy mattress, but it makes up the difference in several other ways.
Performance is a bit of a give-and-take with these two mattresses. Endy Hybrid has better temperature control and pressure relief, with much better response and ease of movement. However, the DreamCloud Hybrid has better motion isolation and bounce, with the same level of edge support in both. Both are inexpensive, so the option you choose should depend on which features you prefer.
Should You Buy the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress?
You should try the DreamCloud Hybrid if you want support and motion isolation at a lower price. This budget mattress is worth trying out even if it takes a while to receive. Returns are free, and the 365-night sleep trial is a good incentive. It’s entirely risk-free, so you’ll have plenty of time to try the mattress for yourself.
Highlights of the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress
The DreamCloud Hybrid is an affordable hybrid with quite a few highlights for its price point. It’s bouncier than most other mattresses, though it also offers extreme motion isolation. Couples and those with restless partners may be able to sleep more soundly on this mattress because it dampens motion so well. It also takes less time to off-gas than average, and the company policies are great for a US-based company.
Areas for Improvement
The DreamCloud Hybrid has a few areas that could be improved. First, the mattress isn’t very responsive. It’s difficult to move around on top of the mattress, which can lead to discomfort when trying to change positions. Pressure relief and cooling are other areas where the DreamCloud Hybrid could do better. While it performs well enough in these areas, it could perform well enough to push it into one of the top spots on our list of recommendations.
Our Recommendations for the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress
We recommend the DreamCloud Hybrid to lightweight and average sleepers who sleep on their sides, stomachs, and backs. It’s not the best option for combination sleepers. However, it’s good for couples and those who prefer to sink deeper into the mattress. Good bounce and passable support elsewhere make it a great mattress to try.
