Our Methodology
While we have a tried-and-true method for reviewing mattresses, adjustable beds are different. We examine the materials used, assessing their quality and durability throughout our testing. Once we’ve thoroughly examined the bed, we use the same mattress for each of our tests. This ensures that the results we feel come from the frame and aren’t based on the mattress itself. We use practical and simulation tests to see how the bed adjusts under different loads, how loud the motors are, and whether it stands up to frequent use.
Then, we send the frames home with our testing team. At home, they have more time to test the frame and see how it performs under different circumstances and over time. We look at their feedback and our original test results to help determine the quality and usability of adjustable beds.

Adjustable Bed Details
The Douglas Adjustable Bed offers a range of features that you don’t usually find at this price point. Full-body massage features, Zero-Gravity positioning, and a full range of adjustment make this bed comfortable for most Canadians. While it doesn’t come with a headboard, you can use their universal bracket system (available at purchase) to attach your own headboard. The legs are fully adjustable with 3” sections, so you can make the bed as tall as you need (or keep it low to the ground).
Douglas offers the longest sleep trial in Canada for an adjustable bed. While most of the other options we’ve seen offer 30 to 60 days to try your new bed, Douglas gives you 120 nights to see if it works for you. It’s easy and hassle-free to return the frame if you don’t like it, too.
The Douglas Adjustable Bed is great for:
- ✅ Canadians who want comfort on a budget
- ✅ Those with mobility impairments
- ✅ Users who want to try the bed for longer
- ✅ New adjustable bed users
- ✅ Zero-Gravity relaxation settings
- ✅ Canadians who want to try a bed with full-body massage features
Skip the Douglas Adjustable Bed if you:
- ⚠️ Need Anti-Snore presets
- ⚠️ Prefer to control the bed via a Bluetooth app
Douglas Adjustable Bed Prices and Sizes

Adjustable Bed Construction
The Douglas Adjustable Bed uses sturdy materials, including a steel frame, durable upholstery, and smooth motors.
Frame Materials
The frame of the Douglas Adjustable Bed is made of steel. This frame is extremely durable and works well with the screw-in extension legs. This bed can accommodate up to 650 pounds, but keep in mind that this includes the weight of the mattress you choose to use.
To clean the frame, you can wipe it down with a damp cloth. This removes any dust or debris, and we recommend wiping it down before you get your mattress set up.
Upholstery
The upholstered sections of the adjustable bed are smooth, but the material is durable enough to slide around under your mattress without tearing or pilling. While Douglas doesn’t disclose what type of material they use for their upholstery, it is an extremely durable fabric.
To care for the upholstery, you can spot clean it as needed.
Motors
The motors on the Douglas Adjustable Bed are smooth and robust. While they can be a little loud if they are adjusted while you are lying down, the transition from one position to the next isn’t jarring. Those who need a smooth transition from sitting to lying down will be comfortable here.
Even the one-touch flat preset doesn’t move very fast. Movement is easy and comfortable.
Adjustable Bed Features
Douglas’s adjustable bed has a host of features to make your experience more comfortable. Here’s what it offers.
Head and Foot Tilt
The Douglas Adjustable Bed tilts in two locations. It has head and foot adjustment points to help achieve a more comfortable position, no matter how you sleep.
The head and foot adjustment points don’t have any predetermined levels. While you can use the presets to reach certain positions, you can freely adjust either point using the wireless remote.
Massage Feature
Massage features are one of the biggest quality of life features that adjustable beds can add to your life. This adjustable bed has a full-body massage mode. There are massage motors within the upholstered section of the bed, and you can change the intensity of the massage at the head and foot of the bed independently.
There are three different intensity settings on each zone, so you can get the most massage function where you need it most. After a long day, a pre-bedtime massage is a great way to relax.

USB Ports
Some adjustable beds have on USB port on each side of the bed, while others have none at all. The Douglas Adjustable Bed has a total of 4 USB ports, with two on either side. You’ll have plenty of plugs to charge your devices, including your phones and tablets.
Wireless Remote
There are a couple of different ways you can control your adjustable bed. You can use the included wireless remote, which doesn’t require any additional setup. This remote includes the lift and lower buttons for both the head and foot adjustments. There’s also a Zero-Gravity mode button and a one-touch flat option. Massage intensity is controlled from here, too.
Presets
The Douglas Adjustable Bed features 2 presets. One is Zero-Gravity, a mode that completely relaxes your body without strain. This mode is perfect for naps, relaxing before you sleep, and restorative rest after long, physically intensive days.
The second preset is a lie flat mode, which brings the bed back to its starting position without fiddling with the lift and lower buttons. With one touch, you can move from your sleeping position to flat, making it easier to stand up and get out of bed.
Flush Design
You won’t have to worry about this bed hitting your walls, leaving holes, or otherwise causing damage. It uses a wall-hugging design to adjust. You can put it right up against the wall or a headboard without worrying about any type of collision, scraping, or damage.
This is also perfect for the addition of a headboard. If you have your own headboard, you can choose to add a headboard bracket kit to your purchase. It’s an inexpensive addition that can make your bedroom look and feel cozier.
Tool-Free Setup
You can get your adjustable bed set up without using any tools. Once your adjustable bed arrives, you simply have to unfold the frame. The legs are screwed into the frame, which is already assembled for your convenience. Once the legs are on and the bed is plugged in, you’re ready to go.
Leg Height Adjustment
You can adjust the leg height of the Douglas Adjustable Bed using the leg adjustment sections. There are three 3” sections available for each leg, meaning you can have a bed that is 3”, 6”, or 9” off the ground. The 3” option is great for those who need their bed closer to the ground, while the 9” option (using all three sections) is great for under-bed storage.
The full height of the bed when using these sections ranges from 7” to 13”, including the size of the frame itself.
Compatibility
The Douglas Adjustable Bed is compatible with many different mattresses. It works well with every Douglas mattress (including the Original, Alpine, and Summit). It works with Goodmorning.com mattresses from Juno, Logan & Cove, and Octave as well.
When it comes to other brands, the Douglas Adjustable Bed is compatible with most all-foam, latex, or hybrid mattresses. You can check with your mattress manufacturer to see if the mattress you already own (or one you are looking to purchase) is compatible with adjustable frames.
As with all adjustable frames, you should not use innerspring mattresses with adjustable beds.

Delivery, Sleep Trials, and Returns
Like all Douglas products, the Douglas Adjustable Bed features free shipping to most locations. If you live in a remote location, there may be a shipping fee to offset additional delivery costs. Your adjustable bed will ship within 5 business days, and delivery is fast once your bed leaves the warehouse.
Once it arrives on your doorstep, you’ll have 120 nights to determine if it works for you. This sleep trial is generous, especially compared with some of the other options on the Canadian market. You can return the adjustable bed during those first 4 months if it doesn’t work out for you. You’ll get a full refund and free returns.
Overall, the adjustable bed has a few different warranty terms. There’s a 2-year warranty on service and labor, a 5-year warranty on parts, and a 10-year warranty on the cost of parts, which is prorated. If you have questions about what this means for you, you should contact Douglas’s customer care team directly.
- Shipping Cost: Free (with some exceptions)
- Time to Delivery: 1-5 business days to ship, up to 6 business days for shipping to most provinces
- Courier: Various
- Sleep Trial Length: 120 nights
- Warranty: 2 years (service & labor), 5 years (parts), 10 years (cost of parts)
- Ease of Return: Free returns and full refund during sleep trial
Competing Canadian Adjustable Bed Comparisons
There are a few other adjustable bed options on the Canadian market, so let’s see how they stack up to the Douglas Adjustable Bed.
Douglas Adjustable Bed vs Silk & Snow Adjustable Bed

The adjustable bed from Silk & Snow is a more luxurious option that features three different frame models. Each tier includes new quality of life features, including massage, neck tilt, and even under-bed lighting. Depending on how much you want to pay, you can get a huge range of features that are perfect for most sleepers.
The Douglas Adjustable Bed is still less expensive than every Silk & Snow option. While it doesn’t have some of the more advanced features offered by Silk & Snow, it has a longer sleep trial and more leg adjustment options. Plus, you don’t have to worry about which model to choose; there is only one Douglas Adjustable Bed, so the features are less confusing.
Douglas Adjustable Bed vs Endy Upholstered Adjustable Bed

The Endy Upholstered Adjustable Bed is perhaps the most similar to the Douglas model. However, this bed has a slight advantage: it comes with a soft upholstered headboard, which makes up for the difference in price. There is a model without the headboard available if you already have one, though. Endy’s Adjustable Bed also comes in additional sizes, and remains one of the only adjustable beds in Canada to carry some of these sizes.
The key differences are that the Endy Upholstered Adjustable Bed doesn’t have massage functions or USB ports. When it comes to these features, Douglas wins out. Plus, you can purchase a headboard bracket kit when you purchase the Douglas Adjustable Bed. It’s inexpensive and allows you to attach any headboard to the frame.
Douglas Adjustable Bed vs Casper Lifestyle Adjustable Base Pro

The Casper Lifestyle Adjustable Base Pro is not the most expensive option on our list, but it does come close. This luxury adjustable bed offers some of the same features as the Douglas, including Zero-Gravity mode, massage features, universal brackets, and adjustable leg heights. However, it also includes a few things that Douglas misses out on.
First, it is controllable via a Bluetooth app. It has 4 presets, including Zero-Gravity and Anti-Snore, as well as one programmable memory setting that preserves your favourite position. It also features adjustable lumbar support, which is an adjustable bar that can increase support across your back when you tilt the head of the mattress up. It’s useful for those who are more comfortable with strong back support while they sit and relax.
Should You Buy the Douglas Adjustable Bed?
The Douglas Adjustable Bed is a good choice if you don’t have a lot to spend, but want to experience the comfort of an adjustable bed for yourself. It’s one of the least expensive options on the Canadian market, especially for the quality it offers.
If you are curious about adjustable beds, we would definitely recommend trying them out. However, there is a range of other features you could look into if you want something a little more luxurious. Anti-Snore, Bluetooth app control, and a range of other options may be necessary for you, but you won’t find them on this adjustable bed.
“I’d never had an adjustable bed before, and the price seemed too good to be true. I’m happy to report that this bed is the best investment we’ve ever made. The massage function is my favourite part!”

Highlights of the Douglas Adjustable Bed
The Douglas Adjustable Bed is a good entry point for those who have never used an adjustable bed before. The price is just right, and there are enough features that it doesn’t feel too basic.
The massage features and the Zero-Gravity preset pull a lot of weight here. The overall quality of the frame is solid, and the motors are quiet enough and smooth enough to maintain peace. Massage features are a little more than what we would expect from an adjustable frame at this price point, so it was great to see them here.
The Zero-Gravity and one-touch flat presets are great offerings that will make you feel like you are getting the most out of your purchase, too.
Areas for Improvement
The Douglas Adjustable Bed is a great choice for those who don’t want to spend a lot. It has a ton of great features, but there are a few more it could include to take it to the next level.
Including a Bluetooth app in addition to the wireless remote could be helpful, as it would make it easier to adjust the bed if you lose the remote (or if it’s on the other side of the bed). It could also do with additional presets and memory functions, which would be easily accessible through such an app.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the weight limit on this adjustable bed?
This adjustable bed can hold up to 650 lbs. Keep in mind that this includes the weight of your mattress, which can be over 100 pounds in some cases!
Is the Douglas Adjustable Bed made in Canada?
No, the Douglas Adjustable Bed is not made in Canada. Though Douglas is a Canadian company (and their mattresses and other products are made in Canada), they make their adjustable bed in China. It is stored and shipped within Canada exclusively.
What type of mattress do I need for a Split King bed?
If you purchase a Split King adjustable bed, you have two options. You can buy a Split King mattress if it’s available, but keep in mind that this size is really just two Twin XL-sized mattresses in one order. You can create your own Split King bundle by purchasing two Twin XL-sized mattresses if the Split King option isn’t available.
Are the motors quiet?
The motors are quiet enough that your partner is unlikely to wake up if you need to adjust the bed in the middle of the night. Some lighter sleepers may notice that they hum during operation, but most of the time they are quiet and smooth.
How many presets does the Douglas Adjustable Bed have?
The Douglas Adjustable Bed has two presets, including one-touch flat and Zero-Gravity mode.
How heavy is the Douglas Adjustable Bed?
When this bed arrives, you may need help getting it moved into place. This adjustable bed weighs between 96 lbs and 192 lbs, depending on the size, so it’s best not to try to lift it by yourself.
