The legs are fully adjustable with 3” sections, so you can make the bed as tall as you need (or keep it low to the ground). 

Douglas offers the longest sleep trial in Canada for an adjustable bed. While most of the other options we’ve seen offer 30 to 60 days to try your new bed, Douglas gives you 120 nights to see if it works for you. It’s easy and hassle-free to return the frame if you don’t like it, too.

The Douglas Adjustable Bed is available in four sizes. You can choose the Twin XL, Full/Double, Queen, or Split King adjustable bed at checkout. While the price of the Split King may seem elevated, keep in mind that this option is essentially two Twin XL adjustable beds.

The Douglas Adjustable Bed uses sturdy materials, including a steel frame, durable upholstery, and smooth motors.

Frame Materials

The frame of the Douglas Adjustable Bed is made of steel. This frame is extremely durable and works well with the screw-in extension legs. This bed can accommodate up to 650 pounds, but keep in mind that this includes the weight of the mattress you choose to use. 

To clean the frame, you can wipe it down with a damp cloth. This removes any dust or debris, and we recommend wiping it down before you get your mattress set up.

Upholstery

The upholstered sections of the adjustable bed are smooth, but the material is durable enough to slide around under your mattress without tearing or pilling. While Douglas doesn’t disclose what type of material they use for their upholstery, it is an extremely durable fabric.

The Douglas Adjustable Bed tilts in two locations. It has head and foot adjustment points to help achieve a more comfortable position, no matter how you sleep. 

The head and foot adjustment points don’t have any predetermined levels. While you can use the presets to reach certain positions, you can freely adjust either point using the wireless remote. 

Massage Feature

Massage features are one of the biggest quality of life features that adjustable beds can add to your life. This adjustable bed has a full-body massage mode. There are massage motors within the upholstered section of the bed, and you can change the intensity of the massage at the head and foot of the bed independently. 

There are three different intensity settings on each zone, so you can get the most massage function where you need it most. After a long day, a pre-bedtime massage is a great way to relax.

USB Ports

Some adjustable beds have on USB port on each side of the bed, while others have none at all. The Douglas Adjustable Bed has a total of 4 USB ports, with two on either side. You’ll have plenty of plugs to charge your devices, including your phones and tablets. 

Wireless Remote 

There are a couple of different ways you can control your adjustable bed. You can use the included wireless remote, which doesn’t require any additional setup. Presets

The Douglas Adjustable Bed features 2 presets. One is Zero-Gravity, a mode that completely relaxes your body without strain. This mode is perfect for naps, relaxing before you sleep, and restorative rest after long, physically intensive days. 

The second preset is a lie flat mode, which brings the bed back to its starting position without fiddling with the lift and lower buttons. With one touch, you can move from your sleeping position to flat, making it easier to stand up and get out of bed.

Flush Design

You won’t have to worry about this bed hitting your walls, leaving holes, or otherwise causing damage. It uses a wall-hugging design to adjust. You can put it right up against the wall or a headboard without worrying about any type of collision, scraping, or damage. 

This is also perfect for the addition of a headboard. If you have your own headboard, you can choose to add a headboard bracket kit to your purchase. It’s an inexpensive addition that can make your bedroom look and feel cozier. 

Tool-Free Setup

You can get your adjustable bed set up without using any tools. Once your adjustable bed arrives, you simply have to unfold the frame. The legs are screwed into the frame, which is already assembled for your convenience. Once the legs are on and the bed is plugged in, you’re ready to go. 

Leg Height Adjustment

You can adjust the leg height of the Douglas Adjustable Bed using the leg adjustment sections. There are three 3” sections available for each leg, meaning you can have a bed that is 3”, 6”, or 9” off the ground. The 3” option is great for those who need their bed closer to the ground, while the 9” option (using all three sections) is great for under-bed storage.

The full height of the bed when using these sections ranges from 7” to 13”, including the size of the frame itself.

Compatibility

The Douglas Adjustable Bed is compatible with many different mattresses. It works well with every Douglas mattress (including the Original, Alpine, and Summit). It works with Goodmorning.com mattresses from Juno, Logan & Cove, and Octave as well. 

When it comes to other brands, the Douglas Adjustable Bed is compatible with most all-foam, latex, or hybrid mattresses. You can check with your mattress manufacturer to see if the mattress you already own (or one you are looking to purchase) is compatible with adjustable frames. 

As with all adjustable frames, you should not use innerspring mattresses with adjustable beds.

However, it also includes a few things that Douglas misses out on.

First, it is controllable via a Bluetooth app. It has 4 presets, including Zero-Gravity and Anti-Snore, as well as one programmable memory setting that preserves your favourite position. It also features adjustable lumbar support, which is an adjustable bar that can increase support across your back when you tilt the head of the mattress up. It’s useful for those who are more comfortable with strong back support while they sit and relax.

Highlights of the Douglas Adjustable Bed

The Douglas Adjustable Bed is a good entry point for those who have never used an adjustable bed before. The price is just right, and there are enough features that it doesn’t feel too basic. 

The massage features and the Zero-Gravity preset pull a lot of weight here. The overall quality of the frame is solid, and the motors are quiet enough and smooth enough to maintain peace. Massage features are a little more than what we would expect from an adjustable frame at this price point, so it was great to see them here. 

The Zero-Gravity and one-touch flat presets are great offerings that will make you feel like you are getting the most out of your purchase, too.

Areas for Improvement

The Douglas Adjustable Bed is a great choice for those who don’t want to spend a lot. It has a ton of great features, but there are a few more it could include to take it to the next level. 

Including a Bluetooth app in addition to the wireless remote could be helpful, as it would make it easier to adjust the bed if you lose the remote (or if it’s on the other side of the bed). It could also do with additional presets and memory functions, which would be easily accessible through such an app.
