Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress Review

Impressive Pressure Relief From an Advanced Mattress

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is one of Casper’s most luxurious Canadian mattress models. This hybrid is a full 14” and comes in three different firmness options. All firmness options are the same price and firmness, meaning the only construction change is the way the foams are made. This flexibility ensures that you get the mattress exactly how you need it.

This mattress is perfect for hot sleepers, side sleepers, and heavier sleepers. The perfect pressure relief score and zoned support make it ideal for a range of sleeping positions, especially considering you can choose the firmness of the materials.

Our Methodology

When we review a mattress, we go through the same testing process we’ve been using for years. We look at how the mattress is made, which materials it uses, and where they are located in the mattress. Then, we put it through a gauntlet of practical and simulation tests. This helps us determine how the mattress will perform for different sleepers under different circumstances.

We combine the data from these tests with tester feedback. Each of the mattresses we test goes home with our testers, which allows for more in-depth testing. Their insights, along with our test results, allow us to arrive at our final scores for each performance metric.

Mattress Details

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is one of Casper’s most luxurious mattresses, built from the bottom up with your comfort in mind. The proprietary materials are meant to prioritize cooling features and pressure relief, and the mattress accomplishes both. Firm support and outstanding pressure relief make this mattress more than comfortable enough for Canadians in all sizes and all sleeping positions.

You can also get this mattress at any firmness level. Casper originally offered this mattress in a Medium Firm option, but has upgraded to allow for multiple firmness levels, including a Firm and Plush verison. Each of these versions is the same price (depending on size) and height. The firmness is determined by the materials used, and softer versions of the mattress use softer foams throughout.

Overall, this mattress is ideal for hot sleepers, heavy sleepers, pressure relief, and more. The higher price tag is an investment in better sleep.

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is great for:

  • ✅ Canadians who sleep hot
  • ✅ Those who need better lumbar support
  • ✅ Those who have a bit more to spend on a luxury mattress
  • ✅ Great bounce and ease of movement
  • ✅ Industry-leading pressure relief
  • ✅ Exclusively proprietary materials

Skip the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow if you:

  • ⚠️ Wake up often when your partner tosses and turns
  • ⚠️ Want to try the mattress for longer
  • ⚠️ Are on a budget

Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress Prices and Sizes

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow costs a fair bit more than most other hybrids because of the materials it uses. This hybrid uses layers of phase-changing materials, perforated foams, and unique layers with different thicknesses and other materials that you won’t find elsewhere.

This mattress tested well in most areas, including cooling, supporting edges, and especially pressure relief. This mattress got a perfect pressure relief score from us, which is extremely rare. The firmness options make it ideal for most Canadians, as you can choose the options that work best for your sleep style. It’s especially good for side sleepers due to the balancing and pressure relief properties in any firmness option.

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is available in five standard mattress sizes, and does not come in a Twin size.

SizeDimensionsPrice
Twin XL38 x 80 x 14”$3499
Full53 x 75 x 14”$3899
Queen60 x 80 x 14”$3999
King76 x 80 x 14”$4999
California King72 x 84 x 14”$4999

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is available in three firmness levels, but there is no difference in price. No matter which firmness you choose, you’ll be paying the same price (depending on size).

Mattress Construction

A closer look at the unique layers used in the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow
A closer look at the unique layers used in the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow uses more proprietary materials than most mattresses, with layers that work for you. Though this mattress is available in three firmness levels, the main difference in these levels is the density of the foam. The Firm mattress uses denser, firmer foams, while the Plush version uses softer foams. As a result, the Plush version of this mattress also weighs less.

  • Cooling Cover. The cover of the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is made with a soft, breathable fabric that is woven with cooling fibres. This creates a surface that is cool to the touch. This cover also includes Casper Edge Support, which introduces a firmer weave at the edges of the mattress to facilitate better edge support.
  • AirScape Foam and PCM. The top layer of foam helps relieve pressure. This AirScape foam is perforated for better airflow. Phase-changing material maintains a cooler temperature throughout the night.
  • HeatDelete Bands. Casper’s proprietary cooling bands actively pull heat away from you for 12+ hours, so heat doesn’t build up like it might in other mattresses.
  • Perforated Foam. An additional layer of perforated foam adds more airflow, but also provides additional contouring and pressure relief.
  • Zoned Latex. This layer of engineered latex foam is zoned for better support through the centre of the mattress. This latex is also perforated for additional airflow throughout the mattress.
  • Align Support Foam. Casper’s Align Foam uses a waved design with parts that are thicker and thinner in turn. It also uses gel pods for additional support in key areas, leading to some of the best balancing we’ve seen in a mattress.
  • Flex Coils. A final support layer of flexible coils reduces strain by offering great full-body support. These coils move easily, reducing strain and providing even more balance.

Mattress Performance Test Results

We received tester feedback and performance scores from our own testing phases at the end of our testing cycle. To determine our performance scores, we analyzed all available data and calculated an average score that we believe best represents how this mattress performs for most sleepers. We tested the Medium Firm version of the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow.

Temperature Control

Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Temperature Rating

Waking up too hot is more common than you might think. A surprising majority of Canadians wake up sweaty, overheated, and uncomfortable because they aren’t cool enough. Mattresses that use foam are especially prone to heat build-up, which can lead to night sweats and overheating. Thankfully, most mattress companies are aware of this. Many use active cooling materials that remove heat and keep you cooler throughout the night. We recommend a score of at least 8 out of 10 in this category, though hotter sleepers should choose options with higher scores.

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is built specifically to deal with heating issues. It uses multiple layers of phase-changing material, which actively maintains a base temperature for hours while you sleep. Their foams are perforated for additional airflow as well. Heat didn’t really get a chance to build up on this mattress. Throughout our testing, the surface and core of the mattress stayed cool long past  the time when other mattresses started to heat up. While it didn’t get a perfect temperature control score, this mattress is still a solid choice for Canadians who often overheat.

Motion Isolation

Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Motion Isolation Rating New

If you sleep with a partner, motion isolation is an important factor to consider. Motion isolation stops any vibration or shaking from transferring across the mattress to you, so it’s ideal for lighter sleepers who have issues staying asleep when their partner tosses and turns. A score of at least a 7.5 in this category would be great for those who wake up often when their partner changes position or gets out of bed.

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow didn’t perform as well as we’d hoped in this area. The coils moved too much and the perforated foams allowed an easier transfer of motion than solid foam might. Our testers felt most larger motions and some of the smallest ones too, and our equipment picked up a lot of vibration after our ball drop testing. If you need motion isolation in order to stay asleep, we can’t recommend this mattress to you based on our results.

Edge Support

Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Edge Support Rating

Our edge support score tracks how well the edges of the mattress hold up when compressed. If you often feel like you are sliding off the edge of the bed when you sit there in the morning, you might need a mattress with better edge support. This is especially important for those who share a bed, especially in smaller sizes. You want to be able to sleep near the edge without losing any support, so stronger edge support is essential. We recommend a score of at least 7 here for Canadians who find edge support important.

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow gets an 8.9 from us in this category. This is strong enough edge support for most Canadians, including those who sleep at the edge of the bed. The firmer edge support at the cover of the mattress helps keep firmness all the way down. Our testers who tend to sleep at the edge of the bed noted that the support could be stronger, but they were generally happy with how it felt.

Firmness and Feel of the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow recently became available in three different firmness levels. This means you can now choose the firmness that you prefer for your sleeping position, body type, and sleeping style.

We assign each of our mattresses a firmness rating. This starts at 1, with the softest mattresses, and ends at 10 with the firmest mattresses.

This mattress’s firmness options don’t change the construction of the mattress. Instead, the firmness is adjusted with different material densities. We’ve rated these firmness options as follows:

  • Firm Version: 7
  • Medium Firm Version: 6
  • Plush Version: 5.5
Firmness Chart 6
The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow’s Medium-Firm version is a 6 on our firmness scale.

Regardless of which option you choose, these proprietary materials reform quickly to help you stay comfortable, without allowing you to feel stuck in the mattress.

Performance for Different Weights and Sleeping Preferences

Our testing scores are meant to give you a good idea of how a mattress will work for you. Even with our extensive testing and our averaged scores, each mattress may perform differently for different users. How a mattress will feel depends on a few factors, including how you sleep, your body type, and other sleep preferences.

Weight Considerations

The materials inside a mattress can react differently to different body types. The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow has a weight limit of about 250 pounds per sleeper, which is the weight limit specified by Casper. This weight limit is meant to be a guideline for how the mattress is intended to work; if you exceed this weight limit, the materials may not perform the same.

This mattress would be a good choice for heavier sleepers, particularly heavier side sleepers, because of the dense foam layers and zoned sections. Lighter and average sleepers will also sleep comfortably on this mattress, as it gets a perfect score in pressure relief through most of our testing.

Sleeping Positions

Each sleeping position requires different support levels, firmness, and pressure relief to stay comfortable and asleep throughout the night. A mattress that works well for one sleeper may not work well for the next, so it’s important to take your sleeping position into consideration. Here’s how this mattress works for each type of sleeper.

  • Side Sleepers: Side sleepers need outstanding pressure relief and body balancing to avoid putting undue pressure on their spine. The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow has great pressure relief and near-perfect balance, making it a good choice for most side sleepers.
  • Back Sleepers: Back sleepers need a mattress that contours to their body and offers support for their lower back. If they don’t get this level of support, they can wake up stiff and uncomfortable. The sinkage level of the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is okay for back sleepers, though the level of support may vary between the different firmness options.
  • Stomach Sleepers: Stomach sleepers need firm support at the core and centre of the mattress. The top must be plush enough to eliminate pressure without detracting from the support they need. Thankfully, the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow offers all of these features, so it’s good for stomach sleepers.
  • Combo Sleepers: Combination sleepers need to move around a lot to stay comfortable. They switch from one position to another throughout the night, so they need a mattress that remains comfortable and supportive no matter what. The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is extremely responsive, making it one of the best options we’ve seen for combination sleepers.

Delivery, Sleep Trials, & Returns

Though Casper has a strong US-based focus, they offer some mattresses exclusively to Canadians. Any mattress that ships from within Canada will arrive to your door in 3 to 7 business days after shipping.

Though this is the standard, some locations may require more time for delivery. Remote areas may require a delivery fee, including addresses within the Canadian territories. If you are unsure if you will need to pay a delivery fee, you can always check the Casper website.

Casper offers a 100-night sleep trial, but requires that you wait at least 30 nights before initiating a return. They want you to use the mattress during the full 30 nights to ensure that your body adjusts, as it can take at least this long to get used to a new mattress. You can return the mattress after those first 30 nights if the mattress isn’t right for you, and you will get a full refund of your purchase price. You’ll also get a limited 10-year warranty when you choose to keep the mattress.

  • Shipping Cost: Free (with some exceptions)
  • Time to Delivery: 3 to 7 business days
  • Courier: Various
  • Sleep Trial Length: 100 nights
  • Warranty: 10 Year Limited
  • Ease of Return: Full refund after a 30-day period and free pick up.

Company Background

Casper is a well-known and easily recognized mattress company throughout North America. They are active throughout the US and Canada, with a range of mattresses and bedding for both markets. Most of Casper’s mattresses are luxurious, high-quality options with the price tag to match.

Casper has a lot of great company policies, even if their sleep trial length is lagging behind the current Canadian industry standard. Used mattresses are donated to those in need when possible. Though Casper is known for more expensive mattresses, they have recently introduced a more affordable line that features their proprietary materials and technologies at a much lower price.

Commitment to the Environment

While Casper as a company hasn’t declared any major environmental commitment, they do use recycled materials in their mattresses. All of their foams are CertiPUR-US certified, for example; they contain no harsh chemicals that are unsafe for humans. The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow uses a cover completely made from recycled plastic bottles, signaling some awareness of environmental impact within their company policies.

Casper Wave Hybrid Snow vs Other Casper Mattresses

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is the company’s most luxurious and advanced model, and boasts one of the company’s highest prices. Still, it features some of the best technology Casper has ever used, putting it a step above most of the other options from Casper. Here’s how the Wave Hybrid Snow stacks up to some of Casper’s other popular hybrid mattresses.

Casper Wave Hybrid Snow vs Casper Original Hybrid

Full view of the Casper Original Hybrid Mattress
Full view of the Casper Original Hybrid Mattress

The Casper Original Hybrid is Casper’s basic hybrid model. It sits at a midpoint between the Atlas and the Wave Hybrid Snow as a mattress with good performance at a lower price. Casper’s Original Hybrid mattress doesn’t have the strongest pressure relief or the best temperature control. However, it is a bit more responsive than the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow.

Both have poor motion transfer due to the coil layers. Still, the Wave Hybrid Snow is twice the price of the Casper Original Hybrid.

Casper Wave Hybrid Snow vs Casper Atlas Hybrid

A view of the Casper Atlas Hybrid in our bedroom testing setting
A view of the Casper Atlas Hybrid in our bedroom testing setting

Casper’s Atlas Hybrid is a new budget model that the company introduced. This hybrid mattress comes at nearly a third of the cost of the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow, but there are a few trade-off features. The Atlas offers better motion isolation, but poorer pressure relief and temperature control. It has more bounce but is less responsive overall.

Canadians on a strict budget are more likely to appreciate all that you get for the cost of the Casper Atlas Hybrid. However, its performance in some areas isn’t as impressive as the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow, so it’s important to keep that in mind before you make a purchase.

Competing Canadian Mattress Comparisons

Now we’ll look at how the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow compares to competing Canadian mattress brands. We’ll look at Canadian mattresses from Logan & Cove and Silk & Snow to determine how the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow stacks up.

Casper Wave Hybrid Snow vs Logan & Cove Pinnacle

The Logan & Cove PInnacle ready for testing
The Logan & Cove PInnacle ready for testing

The Logan & Cove Pinnacle is the most luxurious mattress from Logan & Cove. This model features great performance, a thick profile, and a full year’s sleep trial to determine if it works for you. This mattress also features a comfortable, plush Euro-top section that can help most sleepers get comfortable fast and fall asleep quicker.

The Logan & Cove Pinnacle outperforms the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow when it comes to edge support and company policies. The edge support on the Logan & Cove Pinnacle is a bit better, but the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow has superior temperature control, motion isolation, and pressure relief. Still, the longer sleep trial and more robust warranty (along with a lower price) might make the Logan & Cove Pinnacle more attractive for Canadians.

Casper Wave Hybrid Snow vs Silk & Snow Organic

The Silk & Snow Organic Mattress before we started our testing process
The Silk & Snow Organic Mattress before we started our testing process

The Silk & Snow Organic mattress is another upgraded hybrid that is available in three firmness options. This natural and organic mattress uses a firm coil layer for support, as well as pressure-relieving wool and natural foams to reduce pressure.

The Silk & Snow Organic has slightly better motion isolation than the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow. The coils are a bit stronger and move a bit less. Their edge support is comparable. Otherwise, the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow outperforms the Silk & Snow in every category. It has more bounce, more pressure relief, better temperature control, and more response. However, Silk & Snow Organic’s eco-conscious approach, better company policies, and lower price might make it a more appealing option.

Should You Buy the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress?

If you can spend a little more to invest in good sleep, the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow mattress could be the right choice for you. It’s one of the most expensive hybrids we’ve recommended, but that cost doesn’t come without benefits. You’re getting high-quality materials that are unique to Casper and won’t be found anywhere else, including their perforated foams, support pods, and outstanding pressure relief materials. Plus, you can now choose your firmness to make the mattress more suited to your sleep style.

“We’re so happy we invested in the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow. This mattress is unlike any we’ve ever tried, and we love how it feels.”
