Our Testing Process for Online Mattresses in Canada

Our Scoring Process for Online Mattresses in Canada
We give each mattress a score out of 10 in each testing category. These scores come from our testing processes, but they are also aggregated from our tester feedback. Both sets of information are considered and averaged to best represent how a mattress may perform for you.
How We Tested These Online Mattresses in Canada
Our testing process has two different phases. First, we use our equipment to measure different metrics in both practical and simulation tests. Then, our testers use the mattress for a trial period to see how it performs in different situations over the long term.
Our Selection Process for Online Mattresses in Canada
We select mattresses based on the features that most Canadians look for, including better performance across categories like temperature control, motion isolation, and pressure relief. We narrow our lists down based on how each mattress performs in our target category.

“We’re so glad we went with the Logan & Cove Pinnacle. This mattress has everything we needed to sleep better and wake up ready for the day.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Logan & Cove Pinnacle)
Logan & Cove Pinnacle Construction

- Quilted Euro-Top Cover. The thick Euro-top cover is soft and comfortable. The fabric uses CryoFusion nanofibres for cooling, while layers of hollow-fibre fill and gel foam offer plushness and cooling.
- Cooling Gel Foam. The first layer below the Euro-top section is a 1” layer of ecoLuxe, a cooling gel foam that leads to more refreshing sleep by reducing higher temperatures at the top of the mattress.
- Micro-Coil Layer. The first layer of micro-coils conforms to your body, reducing discomfort by providing targeted pressure relief where you need it most. This layer lifts your body, too.
- Latex Alternative Transition Foam. Between the micro-coil layers is transitional Elastex, a latex-alternative foam that maintains all the properties of natural latex without the use of chemicals.
- Micro-Coil Layer. The second micro-coil base layer provides even stronger support, reducing strain and preventing heavier sleepers from bottoming out in the firmer coil layers.
- Pocket Coil Base. The base of the Logan & Cove Pinnacle uses 9” pocket coils that are reinforced with a strong foam edge support perimeter. These coils are zoned for perfect support where you need it most.
Logan & Cove Pinnacle Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 9.2/10
The cooling materials in the Euro-top section, paired with the multiple layers of breathable coils, work together to make the Logan & Cove Pinnacle cooler than most other mattresses with a plush top. Those who sleep warm will be much more comfortable on this mattress than other soft options.
Motion Isolation – 6.4/10
Unfortunately, the three layers of coils mean that the Logan & Cove Pinnacle performed poorly in our motion isolation tests. Most testers could feel even small movements from the other side of the bed, and our test equipment measured strong vibration any time there was motion on the surface.
Pressure Relief – 9.1/10
The plush Euro-top in the Logan & Cove Pinnacle makes it ideal for those who need a bit of extra pressure relief. The materials here and throughout the mattress (including the layer of contouring micro-coils) are great at cushioning for side sleepers and heavier sleepers.
Ease of Movement – 9.0/10
The score that the Logan & Cove Pinnacle received for ease of movement surprised us. We thought that the softer top would make this mattress hard to move around on, but that wasn’t the case at all. It’s still really easy to get comfortable on the Logan & Cove Pinnacle without feeling stuck in the mattress.

Who is the Logan & Cove Pinnacle For?
- Canadians who need lumbar support. The zoned coils within the Logan & Cove Pinnacle make it ideal for those who need additional lower back support.
- Edge sleepers. Sleeping near the edge of a mattress can sometimes lead to a loss of support, but the Logan & Cove Pinnacle uses a firm foam surround to keep the edges well-supported, so you get the same comfort from one edge of the mattress to the other.
- Those who want to try the mattress first. Logan & Cove features a 365-night sleep trial and an easy return process. You can try the mattress for a full year to see it if works for you, and returns are stress-free.
Who Should Avoid the Logan & Cove Pinnacle?
- Couples with restless partners. For all of the things the Logan & Cove Pinnacle does well, it doesn’t have the best motion isolation. We can’t recommend this mattress to those who often wake up when their partner turns over or gets out of bed.

“Everything about the Douglas Summit is perfect for us. I can’t believe that we were going to pass this mattress up. This is your sign: don’t dismiss the Douglas Summit.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Douglas Summit)
Douglas Summit Construction
- Cooling Cover. The cover of the Douglas Summit uses Douglas’s CoolSense technology. This uses cooling fibres and sustainable threads to create a cover that wicks away heat and moisture.
- Cooling Foam with PCM. The first layer of foam uses Polar temperature balancing materials, which create a cooling, responsive layer that won’t make you feel stuck or give you night sweats.
- Latex Alternative Foam. The middle layer uses a latex-alternative foam that mimics the properties of natural latex, including response and pressure relief.
- Support Foam. The high-density foam core of the mattress keeps you well-supported throughout the night, removing motion from the mattress and keeping your body balanced.
Douglas Summit Performance Scores

Temperature Control – 9.2/10
If you sleep hot, you aren’t alone. Most Canadians occasionally wake up overheated. If you suffer from constant night sweats, you may need a mattress that helps keep you cool. The Douglas Summit is the perfect mattress for this. Phase-changing materials and cooling foam effectively remove heat and reduce build-up, so you don’t have to worry about being too hot.
Motion Isolation – 10/10
Couples need total motion isolation to stay comfortable, and this mattress delivers. It receives one of the only perfect motion isolation scores we’ve ever given out, so it’s perfect for couples with restless partners or those who need a little help keeping the mattress still.
Pressure Relief – 10/10
The thick comfort layers in this mattress work perfectly for pressure relief. Those who need additional help avoiding pressure points should choose this mattress: it performs better than the other options we’ve seen, and that’s saying something.
Ease of Movement – 9.9/10
All-foam mattresses have a reputation for creating a ‘quicksand’ feeling that keeps you stuck in the mattress. That isn’t the case for the Douglas Summit. The materials used within the mattress are extremely responsive, so you can easily turn over and change position without struggling.
Who is the Douglas Summit For?
- Hot sleepers. Most Canadians get overheated sometimes, but those who sleep extremely hot need a mattress with cooling properties. The Douglas Summit is perfect for hot sleepers.
- Heavier side sleepers. Heavier side sleepers need better pressure relief and thicker comfort layers to stay comfortable. This mattress provides both.
- Canadians on a budget. Though the Douglas Summit may seem pricey, it’s the best performer in its price point. If you have a budget, this is still a great mattress to shoot for.
Who Should Avoid the Douglas Summit?
- Canadians who want a hybrid mattress. The Douglas Summit is an all-foam mattress, so those who need the extra lumbar support from a hybrid may want to choose a hybrid instead.

Best Organic – Silk & Snow Organic

Best Organic

- Temperature Control: 9.1/10
- Motion Isolation: 7.2/10
- Edge Support: 9.0/10
- Pressure Relief: 8.9/10
- Bounce: 7.8/10
- Eco: 10/10
- Response: 8.5/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.4/10
- Policies: 9/10
Highlights
- Fully natural and organic foams, wool, and fabrics
- Easy to move around on
- Better temperature control than most organic mattresses
“The Silk & Snow Organic was the best choice for us. We love the organic materials and zoned support, so we had to try it out.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Silk & Snow Organic)
Silk & Snow Organic Mattress Construction

Silk & Snow Organic Construction
The Silk & Snow Organic is available in three different firmness options. You can choose Firm, Medium Firm, or Plush at checkout, depending on the type of mattress you want. We’ll go over the construction of the mattress here, with some emphasis on which layers are different for each firmness option.
- Cotton Cover. The cover of the Silk & Snow Organic is made of GOTS-certified organic cotton. It’s a perfectly comfortable, smooth sleep surface that works well with your sheets and bedding.
- Organic Wool. A top layer of GOTS-certified organic wool is quilted for additional comfort, breathability, and natural fire resistance.
- Latex Layer. This latex layer is only present in the two softer versions of the mattress (Medium Firm and Plush). It’s a 0.8” layer that adds additional support, balance, and plushness to the mattress.
- Dunlop Latex Comfort Layer. Every firmness level has a layer of GOLS-certified Dunlop latex. It’s completely organic and doesn’t use synthetic materials. It’s responsive and comfortable. The thickness of this layer changes based on the firmness option you choose: Firm has a 0.8” layer, Medium Firm has a 1.5” layer, and Plush has a 3.5” layer.
- Pocket Coil Base. The pocket coil base of the Silk & Snow Organic is zoned for better support. The coils are firmer in the middle of the mattress and softer under your shoulders and knees, so most sleeping positions get support where they need it most.
- Stabilizing Foam. A final layer of stabilizing foam helps the mattress keep its shape and retain structure over time, leading to less sagging as you use the mattress.
Silk & Snow Organic Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 9.1/10
The Silk & Snow Organic uses latex and wool, both materials that won’t retain heat. The addition of breathable pocket coils means that higher temperatures don’t stick around long on this mattress. If you usually sleep hot, this mattress can reduce temperatures. However, those who sleep extremely hot may want to look into mattresses with a higher temperature control score.
Motion Isolation – 7.2/10
The coils in the Silk & Snow Organic provide great structure and support, but they also allow motion to transfer a little more easily than a foam support layer would. This lack of motion isolation means you can feel most of the larger movements from the other side of the bed, as well as quite a few of the smaller ones. Our testers noted that they woke up more often on this mattress than on some of the others we tested.
Pressure Relief – 8.9/10
Pressure relief is key for some sleepers, particularly side sleepers and those who press deeply into the mattress. The Silk & Snow Organic offers passable pressure relief, and this may be enough for some lightweight and average sleepers. However, heavier sleepers (particularly heavier side sleepers) may need more intense pressure relief.
Ease of Movement – 9.4/10
The Silk & Snow Organic foregoes the use of traditional memory foam, which makes it a little easier to move around on. Latex is naturally responsive, allowing you to move around without feeling stuck in the mattress.
Who is the Silk & Snow Organic For?
- Eco-conscious Canadians. If you are worried about the environment, this is the mattress for you. All of the materials used within it are natural and organic.
- Canadians who sleep hot. Night sweats are uncomfortable, but this mattress won’t retain heat like those that use memory foam will.
- Heavier Canadians. The comfort layers and strong support from this mattress make it one of the best choices for heavier sleepers. This is especially true for the softer versions of the mattress.
Who Should Avoid the Silk & Snow Organic?
- Restless Couples. Hybrid mattresses are known for having worse motion isolation than all-foam options. The same is true for the Silk & Snow Organic. The coils help the mattress move more, which means you’ll be able to feel anything from the other side of the bed.
Factor | Silk & Snow Organic Mattress |
Price | $1250 (Firm), $1400 (Medium Firm), $2200 (Plush) (Queen) |
Sizes | Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, California King |
Firmness | Firm, Medium Firm, or Plush |
Sinkage | ✅ Minimal to Strong |
Response Time | ✅ 0.6 sec (average) |
Motion Isolation | ✅ Moderate to Strong |
Edge Support | ✅ Strong |
Bounce | ⚠️ Minimal |
Sleeping Position | ✅ Side Sleepers ✅ Back Sleepers ✅ Stomach Sleepers |
Comfort Layer Height | 2” (Firm), 2.5” (Medium Firm), 4” (Plush) |
Support Layer Height | 8” (All) |
Sleep Trial | 365 Nights |
Warranty | 15 Years |
Alternative Option
Silk & Snow Organic is a hybrid with somewhat stilted pressure relief due to the organic materials used. If you need a hybrid with better pressure relief overall, we recommend the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow.
Best Sleep Trial – Octave Horizon

Best Sleep Trial
Octave Horizon’s year-long sleep trial gives you plenty of time to see if the mattress works for you.
- Temperature Control: 9.4/10
- Motion Isolation: 8.5/10
- Edge Support: 8.9/10
- Pressure Relief: 9.8/10
- Bounce: 7.8/10
- Eco: 9.0/10
- Response: 9.8/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.5/10
- Policies: 10/10
Highlights
- A year-long sleep trial helps you decide if it’s the right mattress for you
- Great pressure relief and temperature control for an all-foam mattress
- Responsive materials make it easy to move around as you sleep
“We underestimated the Octave Horizon. We thought the price was too good to be true, but we’re sleeping better than ever.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Octave Horizon)
Octave Horizon Construction
- Cooling Cover. The cover of the Octave Horizon is soft to the touch. It is woven with cooling fibres and uses more of them than other mattresses in Octave’s line.
- Copper-Infused Memory Foam. The top layer of foam within this mattress is copper-infused memory foam. This 2.5” layer conducts heat away from you and provides excellent pressure relief at the same time. It’s also antimicrobial for a fresher bed overall.
- Aerated Latex. A second layer of foam uses aerated latex to maintain responsiveness and vent off heat.
- Cooling Gel Foam. A 2” layer of cooling gel foam enhances the cooling properties of the mattress, isolating motion and shuffling it away from you as you sleep. This layer helps maintain a comfortable temperature so you don’t have to suffer from night sweats.
- Latex Alternative Foam. A transition layer of Elastex, a latex alternative, keeps you lifted out of the firmer support layer. This layer also helps with responsiveness, ease of movement, and some motion isolation.
- Zoned Support Foam. The supportive core of the Octave Horizon uses open channels to funnel away heat. Meanwhile, the high-density foam keeps motion transfer down and offers support in five zoned channels.
Octave Horizon Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 9.4/10
Cooling layers, particularly the copper-infused foam and aerated latex layers, help move higher temperatures out of this mattress. This means that those who usually sleep hot will be able to stay cooler. It reduces night sweats so you won’t wake up uncomfortable.
Motion Isolation – 8.5/10
Despite its all-foam construction, the Octave Horizon doesn’t offer the best motion isolation. The air channels and perforated foams break up the foam layers, making them less effective when it comes to stopping motion. Our testers noted that motion was somewhat dampened during their trial periods, but it wasn’t entirely removed from the mattress.
Pressure Relief- 9.8/10
Multiple layers help reduce pressure, so side sleepers and those who regularly suffer from pressure points can sleep more comfortably. It performed extremely well during trials and in our tester feedback, and side sleepers in particular felt more comfortable sleeping on the Octave Horizon.
Ease of Movement – 9.5/10
Sometimes, sleeping on a foam mattress can feel like sleeping in quicksand. They contour to your body, but some don’t make it particularly easy to move around as a result. Thankfully, the Octave Horizon’s use of latex and latex-alternative materials provide additional responsiveness and ease of movement.
Who is the Octave Horizon For?
- Hot sleepers. If you usually wake upw ith night sweats, this mattress may be able to keep you more comfortable. The layers of cooling materials and aerated foams vent off heat, replacing it with cooler air so it never builds up.
- Side sleepers. Excellent pressure relief and zoned support make this the best online mattress for side sleepers. It offers the right level of support and relief from uncomfortable pressure points.
- Those who want to try their mattress first. If you want to make sure your mattress is the right choice, you can take advantage of Octave Horizon’s year-long sleep trial.
Who Should Avoid the Octave Horizon?
- Those who want bounce. If you need a mattress to bounce a little when you move around, this isn’t the right option for you. It easily performs worst in this category.
Factor | Octave Horizon Mattress |
Price | $1,499 (Queen) |
Sizes | Twin, Twin XL, Full/Double, Queen, King, California King, Split King |
Firmness | Medium Firm |
Sinkage | ✅ 5.18 cm |

Sleeping Position | ✅ Side Sleepers ✅ Back Sleepers ⚠️ Stomach Sleepers |
Comfort Layer Height | 8.0” |
Support Layer Height | 6.0” |
Sleep Trial | 365 Nights |
Warranty | 15 Years |
Alternative Option
The Octave Horizon performs well, but may need a bit more motion isolation for those who are sensitive to motion. If you need an all-foam mattress with superior motion isolation, check out the Douglas Summit.

— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Casper Wave Hybrid Snow)
Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress Construction

- Cooling Cover. The cover of the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow uses breathable fabric woven with soft, touchable cooling fibres. It’s cool to the touch and includes bolstered edges to improve support at the edges of the mattress.
- AirScape Foam and PCM. The first layer of foam within the mattress works well to relieve pressure, maintaining better airflow through hundreds of small perforations. It’s also coated with phase-changing material, which maintains a comfortable temperature throughout the night.
- HeatDelete Bands. These proprietary cooling bands feature a stronger version of phase-changing materials. They work for 12+ hours to move heat away from you as you sleep.
- Perforated Foam. An additional perforated foam layer moves heated air away from you, pushing fresh air up through the holes to keep you cooler.
- Zoned Latex. Engineered latex foam is firmer in the centre and softer at the shoulders and hips. This maintains perfect support and balance for your body.
- Aligned Support Foam. A layer just before the support coils is made with Casper’s proprietary Align Foam, which uses a waved design to provide support where you need it most. This layer also uses inset gel support pods, which provide even stronger support.
- Flex Coils. A layer of flex coils provides the supportive core of the mattress. This layer reduces strain and provides balance and support for your body, maintaining a comfortable night’s sleep every night.
Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 9.4/10
The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow isolates heat extremely well. The perforated foam layers send cooler air circulating through the mattress, removing heat and keeping you cool and comfortable.
Motion Isolation – 7.0/10
The coils within the Casper Wave Hybrid mattress move around a lot when there’s motion from the other side of the bed. It’s not a great option if you wake up easily when your partner tosses and turns, as you’ll be able to feel every movement as it happens.
Pressure Relief – 10/10
The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow gets a perfect pressure relief score from us. No matter what position you sleep in, the materials in this mattress help you stay balanced, comfortable, and completely reduce pressure from digging into the mattress.
Ease of Movement – 9.5/10
It’s easy to move around on top of the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow thanks to its responsive materials. Our testers noted that they never felt stuck in the mattress, and they were always able to get to a more comfortable position without struggling.
Who is the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow For?
- Canadians who need pressure relief. Casper Wave Hybrid Snow gets a perfect pressure relief score in our testing phases, so it’s one of the best options for those who need additional pressure relief.
- Those who move around a lot at night. If you have to move around a lot to get comfortable, the ease of motion within this mattress helps you change position without feeling stuck.
- Hot sleepers. Casper Wave Hybrid Snow does a great job of reducing temperature, keeping you comfortable and cool throughout the night.
Who Should Avoid the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow?
- Couples with Restless Partners. If you often wake up when your partner tosses and turns, this might not be the mattress for you. Motion easily transfers across the coils, meaning you can feel motion from the other side of the bed.
