Our Testing Process for Mattresses for Stomach Sleepers in Canada

Our Scoring Process for Stomach Sleeping Mattresses
All of our mattress scores come from a combination of tester feedback and practical tests. Each performance area gets a score out of 10 when we consider different performance factors and average the scores from our feedback. A higher score means a mattress performs better in that area according to our testing and tester experience.
Our Tests for Mattresses for Stomach Sleepers
Each mattress test uses a combination of sleep trials and practical testing. We use weights, weighted balls, and a lot of in-house testers when we run our tests. This helps us give you an accurate estimation of how a mattress should work for you.
How We Choose These Mattresses for Stomach Sleepers
We looked at how each mattress performed in areas that stomach sleepers need. We determine whether a mattress’s feel, pressure relief, and support level are ideal for your sleeping position before recommending it.

— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Douglas Original)
Douglas Original Mattress Construction

- CoolSense Cover. Douglas’s removable, machine-washable cover is woven with eco-conscious threads. These Infinitex fibres wick away heat, remove moisture, and keep you comfortable throughout the night.
- 2” Luxury ecoLight Cooling Gel Foam. The top layer is made with ecoLight, a pressure-relieving, eco-conscious memory foam. This foam is made with less carbon input than standard memory foam, but it behaves like a high-density layer.
- 2” Premium Elastex. The middle layer of the Douglas Original is a transition layer made with latex-alternative Elastex. This layer makes the mattress that much more responsive without allowing for motion transfer.
- 6” Motion Isolation Support Foam. The dense, supportive core of the mattress eliminates motion and balances your body in all sleeping positions.
Douglas Original Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 9.3/10
For an all-foam mattress, the Douglas Original performed extremely well when it came to cooling. This mattress was slow to heat up during our testing phases, and testers didn’t have any issues with sleeping too hot. Extremely hot sleepers may need something that does a bit more, but most Canadians will be fine with the cooling capabilities of this mattress.
Motion Isolation – 9.8/10
Foam mattresses are naturally good at motion isolation, and the Douglas Original is no exception. We knew that this mattress would perform well here when we started testing, but we didn’t expect it to perform quite as well as it does. During testing, our equipment detected little to no vibration, and even our most sensitive testers couldn’t feel much from the other side of the bed.
Pressure Relief – 9.3/10
Douglas Original does an admirable job relieving pressure as well. While it didn’t get the best score we’ve ever given a mattress, the Douglas Original provides a level of relief that extends well into the support layer. Stomach sleepers will be comfortable here, as the support doesn’t change even when you sink into the mattress.
Ease of Movement – 9.2/10
Despite sinkage and the standard memory foam body contouring, it’s easy to move around on the Douglas Original. This is because of the Elastex layer in the centre of the mattress. This layer helps dampen movement, but it also helps the mattress bounce back faster than other foam mattresses might.

Who is the Douglas Original Mattress For?
- Couples. Douglas Original’s motion isolation score is one of the best we’ve seen. Our results showed that hardly any motion made it from one side of the Douglas Original to the other.
- Canadians on a budget. The Douglas Original is definitely a budget mattress, so those who don’t have much to spend will love it.
- Those looking for solid performance. There’s very little you have to give up when you buy the Douglas Original. It performs extremely well in most categories and doesn’t cost too much.
Who Should Avoid the Douglas Original Mattress?
- Canadians who prefer a bouncy mattress. If you need a little bounce or feedback to get the most out of your mattress, the Douglas Original may not be for you. This is the only category where this mattress did not perform well.

Alternative Option
The Douglas Original is an all-foam mattress. Sometimes, stomach sleepers require the firmer support of a hybrid mattress. If that sounds like something you need, we recommend the Logan & Cove Choice. This mattress offers some of the same performance markers, but it doesn’t perform well when it comes to motion isolation.
Best Luxury Hybrid – Logan & Cove Choice

Best Luxury Hybrid
The Logan & Cove Choice isn’t the only luxury hybrid on our list, but its performance and price point stood out where other options fell flat.
- Temperature Control: 9.4/10
- Motion Isolation: 6.2/10
- Edge Support: 9.7/10
- Pressure Relief: 8.9/10
- Bounce: 9.8/10
- Eco: 8.7/10
- Response: 10/10
- Ease of Movement: 10/10
- Policies: 9.5/10
Highlights
- Outstanding edge support
- Easy to move around on, with bounce and quick response
- Luxury hybrid experience (including a Euro-top) without the higher price tag
“We’ve tried a lot of mattresses, but we’ve rarely found one as comfortable as the Logan & Cove Choice. We sleep on our stomachs, and this mattress gave us everything we needed.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Logan & Choice Mattress)
Logan & Cove Choice Mattress Construction
- Quilted Cover. Logan & Cove’s cover is made with cooling fibres that keep the surface cool and comfortable. It features a Euro-top cover that is made with hollow fibre fill and cooling gel foam, so it keeps the top of the mattress cool.
- 1” ecoLuxe Cooling Foam. The first layer below the Euro-top is a luxury cooling gel foam. It uses less carbon input than standard memory foam, with the ability to isolate heat and pull it away from you as you sleep. This layer also has great pressure relief for your joints.
- 1.5” Premium Elastex. The transition layer in the middle of the mattress is made with latex-alternative Elastex, which is made without the chemicals found in natural latex. It provides all the same benefits without the chemicals.
- 9” Pocket Coil Layer. Finally, the pocket coil base is 9” tall. Each coil is individually wrapped so it compresses on its own. You’ll get support where you need it most, excellent spinal alignment, and less strain on your joints.
Logan & Cove Choice Mattress Performance Scores

Temperature Control – 9.4/10
If you sleep hot, the Logan & Cove Choice may be able to help. This mattress reduces heat throughout the mattress, cycling cooler air up through the coils so you can rest a little more comfortably. During testing, this mattress was extremely slow to heat, and heat build-up dissipated quickly thanks to the additional airflow.
Motion Isolation – 6.2/10
The coil layer makes an impact on this mattress, but it decreases its motion isolation capabilities. Motion easily transfers from one side of the mattress to the other on these coils, so Canadians looking for a still mattress may need to look elsewhere.
Pressure Relief – 8.9/10
While the comfort layers may be too thin for some heavier sleepers, most will be fine with the Logan & Cove Choice. The layers keep you lifted out of the mattress so you won’t feel the coils below. That’s great news for stomach sleepers, but some may need a mattress with a little more pressure relief than Logan & Cove offers.
Ease of Movement – 10/10
The Logan & Cove Choice gets a perfect score from us for ease of movement. Our testers didn’t feel stuck in the mattress at any point, and it was extremely easy for them to move around without feeling like they were climbing mountains to get out of where they were sleeping.
Who is the Logan & Cove Choice For?
- Canadians who need bounce. Some Canadians prefer a still mattress, while others need a bit of bounce to stay comfortable. Thankfully, the Logan & Cove Choice is responsive and bouncy.
- Those who move around a lot. If you often need to move around to get comfortable, this mattress is a great choice. You won’t ever feel stuck when you need to change position.
- Hot sleepers. This mattress keeps you cool and comfortable, reducing heat at the surface so you can sleep more comfortably.
Who Should Avoid the Logan & Cove Choice?
- Couples. Though this mattress might be okay for some couples, it depends on how much motion isolation you need. This mattress doesn’t do a great job of isolating motion.

Alternative Option
If you want a hybrid that provides great support while also isolating motion, the Silk & Snow Hybrid might be the choice for you. The Silk & Snow Hybrid also comes in multiple firmness options, so it’s one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers with specific preferences.
Best Firmness Options – Silk & Snow Hybrid

Best Firmness Options
Silk & Snow Hybrid is available in three firmness options, so you can choose the one that works best for you. Firm, Medium-Firm, and Plush versions of this mattress are available at checkout.
- Temperature Control: 8.9/10
- Motion Isolation: 9.2/10
- Edge Support: 9.7/10
- Pressure Relief: 8.6/10
- Bounce: 9.1/10
- Eco: 9.0/10
- Response: 9.3/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.4/10
- Policies: 8.7/10
Highlights
- Three firmness options to accommodate different sleepers
- Zoned pocket coils across all firmness options
- Surprising motion isolation for a hybrid mattress
“The Silk & Snow Hybrid was perfect for us. I sleep on my stomach, and I haven’t woken up to a stiff back yet!”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Silk & Snow Hybrid)
Silk & Snow Mattress Construction

The Silk & Snow Hybrid’s three firmness options each have a slightly different construction.
- Antimicrobial Cover. The cover of the Silk & Snow Hybrid is antimicrobial, preventing bacterial growth and keeping your mattress fresh and clean.
- Cooling Fabric (Plush Only). In the Plush version of the mattress, a layer of cooling fabric wicks away moisture and heat at the top of the mattress.
- Quilted Layer. Every mattress features a layer of quilted foam, which is attached directly to the cover. This layer adds pressure relief and some softness.
- First Foam Layer. The first foam layer varies based on firmness. The Firm version uses a 1-inch high-quality foam layer for immediate comfort, while the Medium Firm uses a 2-inch layer of cooling gel foam. The Plush version uses a 2” layer of high-density memory foam that isn’t infused with cooling gel.
- Transition Layer (Plush Only). The Plush version of the Silk & Snow Hybrid uses a 2-inch layer of high-density transition foam to cushion deep pressure points and prevent bottoming out.
- Pocket Coil Base. All versions of the S&S Hybrid use zoned pocket coils for intense support. In the Firm version, this layer is 9” tall. It is 8” tall in the Medium Firm and Plush versions.
- Firm Edge Support. A perimeter of edge support foam keeps the edges of the mattress firm and supportive.
Any of these firmness options would be fine for a stomach sleeper, though the Firm may be a little too firm. All offer great support for the centre of your body.
Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 8.9/10
The Silk & Snow doesn’t have perfect temperature control, but it isn’t terrible either. This mattress is ideal for those who sleep a little warm and are tired of waking up sweaty. The combination of cooling foams and pocket coil helps cycle hot air away from you. We charted a steady decline in heat after lying on the mattress for hours, but it wasn’t fast enough to discourage more intense heating.
Motion Isolation – 9.2/10
We usually expect hybrid mattresses to have significantly worse motion isolation than all-foam options. Pocket coils are better than innerspring mattresses for motion isolation, but they still don’t perform as well as foam here. However, this mattress does a great job of isolating motion. There was little motion during our testing, and our testers mentioned that they could hardly feel movement from the other side of the bed.
Pressure Relief – 8.6/10
The firmer versions of this mattress have thin comfort layers. Depending on your body type and sleep preferences, this may not be ideal. The Plush version of this mattress has the best pressure relief, so make sure to choose that one if pressure relief is what you value most.
Ease of Movement – 9.4/10
Though the pressure relief may be a deal breaker for some, the lack of thick comfort layers makes it easier to move around. You’ll never feel stuck in the mattress and unable to turn over. You can find new positions and get comfortable without any difficulty, even after you’ve been laying in the same spot for hours.
Who is the Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress For?
- Stomach sleepers who need lumbar support. The zoned support from the coil layer is comfortable and supportive for stomach sleepers with back pain.
- Couples and co-sleepers. Despite the coil layers, the Silk & Snow Hybrid does a great job of keeping you still. The coils don’t move too much when your partner tosses and turns, so you can sleep more soundly.
- Those who linger near the edge. If you tend to sleep closer to the edge, you know you can sometimes lose support. The edges of the Silk & Snow Hybrid are firm enough to provide the same level of support as the centre of the mattress.
Who Should Avoid the Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress?
- Heavier sleepers. The comfort layers are thin on this mattress in all versions except the Plush. This means that heavier sleepers are more likely to bottom out and become uncomfortable.
Factor | Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress |
Price | $900 (Firm), $1000 (Medium Firm), $1450 (Plush) (Queen) |

Alternative Option
The Silk & Snow Hybrid offers great performance, but some firmness options lack pressure relief. If you need pressure relief to stay comfortable, we recommend the all-foam Douglas Original.
Best Support – Endy Hybrid

Best Support
Endy’s Hybrid option offers zoned support, perfect for stomach sleepers who need to stay balanced throughout the night. It also performs well in most areas, including responsiveness and bounce.
- Temperature Control: 9.2/10
- Motion Isolation: 6.4/10
- Edge Support: 8.3/10
- Pressure Relief: 9.3/10
- Bounce: 9.9/10
- Eco: 7.0/10
- Response: 10/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.7/10
- Policies: 9/10
Highlights
- An extremely affordable hybrid mattress
- Three firmness options
- Zoned support for full-body balance
“I love how responsive this mattress is. I have to move around a lot, and I never feel like I’m stuck in one spot all night. Plus, it’s cool and has great support for my lower back. I couldn’t ask for more.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Endy Hybrid)
Endy Hybrid Mattress Construction
The Endy Hybrid is available in three firmness options, but the firmness options don’t change the construction of the mattress. Instead, there are layers of different densities for each of the firmness options, so the basic construction is the same. We’ve reviewed the Medium Firm version of the Endy Hybrid here.
- Quilted Cover. The cover of the Endy Hybrid features a foam lining quilted right to the fabric. This makes it soft to the touch and unexpectedly plush.
- Endy Comfort Foam Layer. A top layer of Endy’s open-cell comfort foam keeps you comfortable without keeping you warm. This layer improves airflow and wicks away heat so you don’t wake up sweating.
- Polyfoam Transition Layer. A middle layer of polyfoam helps cushion deep pressure points, lifting you out of the firm coils and maintaining strong pressure relief.
- Pocket Coil Support Base. The pocket coil base is made with zoned coils, which are firmer in the centre and softer at your shoulders and hips. This is meant to be more comfortable for side sleepers, but stomach sleepers can enjoy this extra support too.
- Stabilizing Support Foam. A layer of stabilizing foam beneath the coil layer helps the mattress hold its shape for longer.
Endy Hybrid Mattress Performance Scores

Temperature Control – 9.2/10
Endy’s open-cell foam helps reduce heat by introducing additional airflow. This mattress is good at removing heat quickly, so even the higher temperatures that build up can filter off before you get too warm. Our testing results and testers agree that this mattress slept cooler than expected.
Motion Isolation – 6.4/10
Unfortunately, the Endy Hybrid fell prey to many of the issues that come with hybrid mattresses. It didn’t perform well when it came to motion isolation, so we can’t recommend it to couples. Testers could feel almost everything from the other side of the bed, and our testing phases came up with the same results. The pocket coils just move too much for proper motion isolation.
Pressure Relief- 9.3/10
Pressure relief is another area where the Endy Hybrid performed well. The combination of Endy’s proprietary comfort foam and a strong pressure relief transition layer helped keep our testers comfortable across all sleeping positions. It’s great for stomach sleepers and side sleepers because of this pressure relief.
Ease of Movement – 9.7/10
Our tests revealed that the Endy Hybrid responds to movement extremely quickly. The materials reform fast enough that you are unlikely to ever feel like you can’t roll over, and you won’t have deep indents that pull you back in. Our testers had similar experiences over their testing periods.
Who is the Endy Hybrid For?
- Active sleepers. Extremely responsive materials make it easy to move around on this mattress, so active sleepers don’t feel stuck in the mattress.
- Canadians who sleep hot. This mattress has great temperature control. All but those who sleep extremely hot will be more comfortable on this mattress.
- Side sleepers and those who need better pressure relief. This mattress provides very minimal pressure, great for those who usually suffer from uncomfortable pressure points. If you usually wake up with aches, this mattress may be able to help.
Who Should Avoid the Endy Hybrid?
- Eco-conscious Canadians. While some of the other mattress brands on our list offer eco-conscious options and practices, the Endy Hybrid does not.
Factor | Endy Hybrid Mattress |
Price | $1,295 (Queen) (Firm and Medium Firm), $1,495 (Plush) |

Alternative Option
The Endy Hybrid Mattress’s zoned support makes it a great choice for stomach sleepers, but couples may find it challenging to sleep on this mattress because of its poor motion isolation. The Silk & Snow Hybrid offers the same level of support without motion transfer, so consider choosing it instead of the Endy Hybrid if motion isolation is important.
Best Budget – Juno

Best Budget
The Juno comes at a fraction of the cost of other bed-in-a-box mattresses, so stomach sleepers on a budget can get comfortable.
- Temperature Control: 8.9/10
- Motion Isolation: 8.0/10
- Edge Support: 7.0/10
- Pressure Relief: 9.3/10
- Bounce: 7.5/10
- Eco: 7.0/10
- Response: 8.9/10
- Ease of Movement: 8.9/10
- Policies: 8/10
Highlights
- Cool+ cover upgrade improves cooling capabilities
- Surprisingly robust pressure relief for lightweight and average sleepers
- Great response and ease of motion
“We weren’t expecting much, considering that the Juno was so much more affordable than other mattresses. We were surprised when it performed way better than our older luxury mattress!”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Juno)
Juno Mattress Construction

- Juno Kit Cover (with optional Cool+ upgrade). The cover is a comfortable, soft knit fabric that can be upgraded to the Cool+ version. The regular cover is super comfortable, but the Cool+ upgrade can help improve cooling performance.
- 2” Full Body Cooling Gel Foam. The top of the mattress features a 2” comfort layer made with cooling foam. This layer offers outstanding pressure relief despite its smaller profile, as well as cushioning to balance your body.
- 6” Support Layer. At the bottom of the mattress, a 6” support layer helps with motion isolation and total support. This layer helps stomach sleepers get the stronger balance they need to stay comfortable.
Juno Mattress Performance Scores
Temperature Control – 8.9/10
If you are a warm sleeper, Juno’s cooling gel foam layer might be able to help you sleep more comfortably. This layer helps with moderate temperature control, which worked fine for most of our sleepers. However, some needed a little more help in this department. Those who sleep extra hot are encouraged to try the Cool+ cover upgrade for the Juno mattress, or choose a mattress with more robust cooling features.
Motion Isolation – 8.0/10
Juno didn’t do the best on our motion isolation tests, but it should be just fine for couples who aren’t often waking each other up. If you need stronger motion isolation to deal with a restless partner or a light sleepers, this may not be the mattress for you. We felt some vibration in our testing phases, but for the most part it was tame compared to some of the other mattresses we’ve tested.
Pressure Relief – 9.3/10
The Juno really surprised us when it came to pressure relief. We didn’t expect much because of the thinner comfort layers. We thought it might not hold up for some sleepers, but it actually did much better than we expected. It provided a lot of comfort without bottoming out for most users.
Ease of Movement – 8.9/10
Because you won’t sink too far into the mattress, you won’t feel stuck. Those who move around often can turn over and change position without being uncomfortable. It’s easy to find the perfect position to get comfortable. Our testers loved how easy it was to roll over even after lying in the same spot for a few hours.
Who is the Juno Mattress For?
- Warm sleepers. Those who sleep warm can get some relief from night sweats on this mattress. Those who sleep extremely hot will likely need a mattress with active temperature control features.
- Those who need pressure relief. Despite its thinner comfort layers, the Juno scored fairly high for pressure relief. Lightweight and average sleepers should stay comfortable on this mattress.
- Canadians on a budget. If you have a tight budget, the Juno is the perfect choice. It’s a lot less than other bed-in-a-box mattresses, and it still performs fairly well.
Who Should Avoid the Juno Mattress?
- Heavier sleepers. The comfort layers on the Juno are just 2” thick, which may not be ideal for heavier sleepers. It’s easy to bottom out, which leads to discomfort and pain.
