California King is a special mattress size that is now standard for most companies. These mattresses are longer than they are wide, which allows more room for taller Canadians to stretch out and get comfortable. These are easily the largest, most expensive mattresses that a company can make, so it’s worth breaking down which perform best and which offer the best value. In our list of the best California King mattresses in Canada for 2025, we’ll break down everything you need to know.
Our experts closely compared these mattresses, and they have a lot to say about:
- Performance for larger sizes, including options that stop motion
- All-foam and hybrid models that vary in performance and price
- Well-known brands that bring their A-game to every aspect of their brand, including the largest sizes
- Options that range from the more affordable end of the spectrum to the most expensive

— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Douglas Alpine)
Douglas Alpine Construction
- Cooling Cover. Douglas’s CoolSense cover is made with Infinitex fibres, a sustainable material that reduces heat at the top of the mattress. It’s machine washable and easy to take on and off.
- Cooling Gel Foam and PCM. The top layer of the Douglas Alpine is 2.25” of cooling gel foam to isolate heat. This layer is coated with PCM, or phase-changing material. This material maintains a consistent temperature throughout the night, siphoning off heat so you sleep more comfortably.
- Transition Layer. A middle transition layer balances and cushions your body. This layer is responsible for lifting you out of the strong support layer below and reducing pressure where you press into the mattress.
- Motion Isolation Support Layer. The core of the mattres sis a 6.5” motion isolation foam base. This layer uses high-density foam to keep motion transfer to a minimum and keep your body aligned and balanced.
Douglas Alpine Performance Scores

Temperature Control: 9.1/10
Douglas Alpine sleeps surprisingly cool for an all-foam mattress. The use of PCM and cooling gel foams to reduce heat is an effective tactic, and one that you can feel when you first lie down. Though this mattress doesn’t offer the best cooling we’ve seen, our testers were impressed with how cool it was when compared with other all-foam options.
Motion Isolation: 9.8/10
Motion isolation is extremely important for larger mattresses, as they tend to carry motion a little more readily than smaller sizes. Douglas Alpine receives a near-perfect motion isolation score from us. Our testers confirmed that you could rarely feel anything from the other side of the bed when sleeping.
Pressure Relief: 9.1/10
The comfortable layers within the Douglas Alpine relieve pressure well, but this score isn’t as high as some of the other mattresses in the Douglas lineup. Most Canadians will be fine, but heavier sleepers should choose a mattress with a little more deep pressure relief.
Ease of Movement: 9.6/10
Since this mattress uses nontraditional memory foam, it does a much better job of keeping you from sinking into the layers. This means you can move around freely without the ‘quicksand’ feeling that usually accompanies standard memory foam.
Who is the Douglas Alpine Mattress For?
- Couples with restless partners. This mattress isolates motion almost perfectly, making it a great choice for couples with restless partners.
- Warm sleepers. If you sleep warm (or occasionally overheat), the cooling materials in this mattress can help you sleep more peacefully.
- Canadians on a budget. All California King mattresses are going to be expensive, but the Douglas Alpine softens the blow by offering more for less.
Who Should Avoid the Douglas Alpine Mattress?
- Those who want a little more bounce. The Douglas Alpine is so still that it may not offer enough feedback for some Canadians.

Best Firmness Options – Silk & Snow Hybrid

Best Firmness Options
Silk & Snow Hybrid’s three firmness options are distinct, with a slightly different construction to change the feel of the mattress.
- Temperature Control: 8.9/10
- Motion Isolation: 9.2/10
- Edge Support: 9.7/10
- Pressure Relief: 8.6/10
- Bounce: 9.1/10
- Eco: 9.0/10
- Response: 9.3/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.4/10
- Policies: 8.7/10
Highlights
- Three firmness options, including Firm, Medium Firm, and Plush
- Responsive materials that keep you lifted out of the mattress
- Standout motion isolation, especially when you consider that this is a hybrid mattress
“Silk & Snow Hybrid doesn’t restrict our movement, but it also doesn’t shake too much when my wife gets in and out of bed. It’s the perfect choice for us.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Silk & Snow Hybrid)
Silk & Snow Hybrid Construction
- Antimicrobial Cover. All versions of the Silk & Snow Hybrid use an antimicrobial cover. This cover prevents the growth of bacteria to reduce odours, leaving your bed fresh and clean.
- Cooling Fabric (Plush Only). The Plush version includes an additional layer of cooling fabric quilted into the cover. Though this version is softer, it won’t overheat.
- Quilted Foam Layer. All versions of the mattress feature a layer of quilted foam. This layer is quilted right into the cover and creates an extremely plush sleeping surface, relieving pressure even in the firmest versions of the mattress.
- Cooling Foam (Medium-Firm Only). The Medium-Firm Silk & Snow Hybrid uses a 2” layer of gel-infused foam to reduce heat at the centre of the mattress. Here, it acts as a comfort layer and a transition foam, reducing strain at the firmer coils.
- Pressure Relief Foam (Plush Only). A layer of deep pressure relief foam keeps the softer feel of the Plush mattress. This layer provides deeper pressure point relief and maintains alignment to reduce strain.
- Transition Layer (Firm and Plush Only). The Firm and Plush versions use a transition layer to cushion deep pressure and maintain balance. In the Firm version, this high-quality foam layer is just 1” tall. In the Plush, this layer helps cushion the coils with 2” of high-density foam.
- Pocket Coil Base. A zoned pocket coil base is used in all three firmness options. These coils are always firmer in the middle to support your hips and back, while softer coils keep pressure from your shoulders and knees. The height of this layer changes based on the fitness; in the Firm and Medium-Firm mattresses, it’s 9” tall. The pocket coil base in the Plush version is only 8” tall.
- Firm Edge Support. Regardless of how tall the pocket coil base is, a perimeter of firm edge support keeps the edges from sinking and sagging.
Silk & Snow Hybrid Performance Scores
Temperature Control: 8.9/10
Temperature control on this mattress was variable, especially when considering how each firmness option functions. While this mattress might be fine for those who only occasionally overheat, or those who don’t wake up hot at all, those who often wake up extremely hot may need to choose a mattress with better temperature control properties.
Motion Isolation: 9.2/10
Silk & Snow Hybrid is one of the only hybrids we’ve tested that maintains good motion isolation. We suspect it has to do with the high-density foam layers throughout the mattress, which are denser than standard memory foam. Testers noted that this mattress was perfectly still most of the time.
Pressure Relief: 8.6/10
Pressure points can form at your hips, shoulders, and other places where you press hard into the mattress. They are uncomfortable, but this mattress can reduce them. Heavier sleepers and those who usually develop extreme pressure points may need to use the Plush version or purchase a mattress that performs better in this area.
Ease of Movement: 9.4/10
Despite its multiple layers, all versions of the Silk & Snow Hybrid are easy to move around on. The materials don’t suck you in, but keep you lifted out of the mattress and comfortable without too much sinkage.
Who is the Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress For?
- Couples and co-sleepers. The Silk & Snow Hybrid mattress is one of the only hybrids we’ve seen that
- Edge sleepers. The edge support foam perimeter is great at reducing sagging at the edges. If you sleep near the edge or sit there in the morning to wake up, this mattress can make the process more comfortable.
- Those who sleep warm. If you sleep slightly too warm, the Silk & Snow Hybrid can help. While extremely hot sleepers may struggle, those who only occasionally wake up sweating should be fine.
Who Should Avoid the Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress?
- Extremely hot sleepers. If you usually wake up sweating and overheated, the Silk & Snow Hybrid can only help a bit. We recommend choosing a mattress with much better temperature control.

Alternative Option
The Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress performs well across all of its firmness options in most performance areas. We only wish that it slept cooler, as it can be a bit warmer than we generally like to see. The Logan & Cove Frontier and Endy Hybrid both have slightly better temperature control outcomes for hybrid mattresses.
Best Luxury – Logan & Cove Frontier

Best Luxury
Logan & Cove Frontier is a luxury hybrid that uses a comfortable Euro-top and strong, supportive coils to keep Canadians comfortable.
- Temperature Control: 9.2/10
- Motion Isolation: 7.1/10
- Edge Support: 9.7/10
- Pressure Relief: 9.4/10
- Bounce: 9.0/10
- Eco: 9.2/10
- Response: 9.0/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.3/10
- Policies: 9.5/10
Highlights
- Comfortable Euro-top provides a cloud-like top layer for when you first lie down
- All-around great performance in most comfort areas
- Outstanding edge support and pressure relief scores
“The Logan & Cove Frontier was a great choice for our California King bed. The coils are supportive and the rest of the mattress feels great, too.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Logan & Cove Frontier)
Logan & Cove Frontier Construction
- Quilted Euro-Top. The top of the mattress features a quilted Euro-top section. This layer includes the smooth cover, which is quilted directly through a layer of hollow fibre fill and gel-infused foams.
- Cooling Gel Foam. The top layer of the mattress is made with cooling gel foam that gently cradles your body for pressure relief and comfort. It removes excessive body heat from the equation while keeping you comfortable at the top of the mattress.
- Aeroduct Micro Coils. A 1” layer of micro coils adapts to your body, bringing you pressure relief and support right where you need it. These coils allow for a pressure map that is completely unique to your body, which can lead to much better sleep.
- Transition Foam. A layer of transition foam cushions deeper pressure points, relieving discomfort so you don’t sink directly into the coil layer. It also adds bounce for those who prefer feedback from their mattress.
- Pocket Coil Base. The final layer of the Logan & Cove Frontier is a 9” pocket coil base. This zoned base uses firm coils to support the middle of your body while maintaining response and balance. It uses a firm foam perimeter to keep the edges of the mattress firm and supportive.

Logan & Cove Frontier Performance Scores
Temperature Control: 9.2/10
The Frontier uses a lot of breathable materials throughout the mattress, including breathable micro-coils, a cooling gel foam layer, and the hollow fibre-fill in the Euro-top section. Together, these materials conquer heat and remove it from the mattress, so you don’t overheat throughout the night. Our heat map testing showed that heat dissipates quickly throughout the mattress.
Motion Isolation: 7.1/10
The layers of coils within the Logan & Cove Frontier are great for support and comfort, but they do the mattress no favours when it comes to motion isolation. These coils adapt too easily to motion, making it easy for any vibration to travel across the bed and affect your partner.
Pressure Relief: 9.4/10
On the other hand, the layer of micro-coils is great for pressure relief. These coils create a special support map that keeps your body balanced and reduces pressure throughout. When paired with the comfortable foam layers throughout the mattress, you won’t feel any strain where you press into the mattress.
Ease of Movement: 9.3/10
While the top layers of the Frontier are soft and help you sink into comfort, they don’t restrict movement. You won’t ever feel as though you are stuck in the mattress or like you can’t move around. The materials respond quickly, so you can turn over and move out of your body indent without any trouble at all.
Who is the Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress For?
- Hot sleepers. Overheating is a common problem for Canadians, but the temperature control within the Logan & Cove Frontier helps mitigate heat expertly.
- Those who want a hotel feel. Have you ever wondered how you can get your hands on a super-comfortable hotel-style mattress? Logan & Cove Frontier has the same feel as your favourite hotel mattresses.
- Side sleepers. If you enjoy a plush top, great pressure relief, and full-body balance, this mattress will work well for you.
Who Should Avoid the Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress?
- Co-sleepers. Motion isolation from this mattress is minimal, especially in larger sizes. Restless couples or lighter sleepers may need to choose a different mattress.
Factor | Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress |

Alternative Option
Logan & Cove Frontier is outstanding in nearly every way, but there is no version of this mattress that isolates motion well. Instead, you could look into the Silk & Snow Hybrid mattress for better motion isolation.
Best Hybrid – Endy Hybrid

Best Hybrid
The Endy Hybrid is a classic hybrid that is now available in three different firmness options. There’s something here for most sleepers.
- Temperature Control: 9.2/10
- Motion Isolation: 6.4/10
- Edge Support: 8.3/10
- Pressure Relief: 9.3/10
- Bounce: 9.9/10
- Eco: 7.0/10
- Response: 10/10
- Ease of Movement: 9.7/10
- Policies: 9/10
Highlights
- Three firmness options appeal to most sleeping positions
- Outstanding response and ease of movement for restless sleepers
- Cool and comfortable
“We chose the Plush version of the Endy Hybrid, and I can’t believe how much better we’re sleeping. It’s so much more comfortable than our last mattress.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Endy Hybrid)
Endy Hybrid Construction
The Endy Hybrid is available in 3 different firmness options. You can choose the one that suits your sleeping style, but be aware that the construction of the mattress does not change. Instead of using different layers to achieve a certain feel, this mattress uses foam layers of different heights to create a more variable feel in different options.
- Quilted Cover. The cover of the Endy Hybrid is a soft, quilted fabric lined with Endy comfort foam. It’s extremely comfortable and adds a plush touch to the top of the mattress that you can feel immediately.
- Endy Comfort Foam. Endy’s proprietary open-cell comfort foam helps relieve tension throughout your body. It relieves pressure and helps with cooling, as the open cells are extremely breathable. They allow for much better airflow, while a cooling gel infusion reduces higher temperatures and moves them away from you.
- Transition Foam. A middle layer of transition foam helps with pressure relief, keeping your deepest pressure points from becoming uncomfortable. This layer also helps the mattress stay responsive and easy to move on.
- Zoned Coil Support Base. The base of the mattress features zoned pocket coils for support. The middle of the mattress is firmer for better lumbar support, while a perimeter of super-firm coils bolsters the edges of the mattress. Your body stays balanced and well-supported all night long.
- Additional Support Foam. A bottom layer of high-density foam helps the mattress keep its shape and support level for years. This layer helps reduce sagging and keeps the integrity of the other layers.
Endy Hybrid Performance Scores

Temperature Control: 9.2/10
Open-cell foams promote better breathability, while coils push hot air away on the Endy Hybrid. This mattress sleeps cooler than expected, especially considering that it only uses a single gel-infused open-cell foam cooling layer. However, these elements together are extremely effective.
Motion Isolation: 6.4/10
Unfortunately, the Endy Hybrid doesn’t do well when it comes to motion isolation. This is the only area where this mattress disappointed us, as both our testers and results agreed that the coils move around too much to be still. Canadians who share a bed may want to look into options that isolate motion better, especially if they need stronger motion isolation.
Pressure Relief: 9.3/10
Across its versions, the Endy Hybrid has higher pressure relief scores than we expected. Usually, we look for these higher scores in mattresses that use more than two comfort layers. Endy’s performance surprised us because it only uses two layers to cushion pressure, but it ultimately works out well for most sleepers.
Ease of Movement: 9.7/10
Endy’s open-cell foams, adaptive coils, and responsive transition layer help you move around more easily on the surface of the mattress. If you have to change positions often to get comfortable, this mattress can greatly improve the quality of your sleep. You won’t feel stuck in the materials.
Who is the Endy Hybrid Mattress For?
- Those who sleep hot. The Endy Hybrid uses breathable materials, including open-cell foam and pocket coils, to reduce heat throughout the mattress.
- Side sleepers and combination sleepers. Great pressure relief scores and near-perfect ease of movement are perfect for side sleepers and those who change position often throughout the night.
- Canadians who know which firmness they prefer. If you already know which firmness you prefer, this mattress is a great choice. The choice of three firmness options keeps you comfortable no matter how you sleep.
Who Should Avoid the Endy Hybrid Mattress?
- Restless couples. If your partner wakes you up when they turn over, this may not be the best choice. Endy Hybrid doesn’t isolate motion very well, but the Plush version is better in this aspect than the other versions.
Factor | Endy Hybrid Mattress |
Price | $1,295 (Firm and Medium Firm Queen), $1,495 (Plush Queen) |
Sizes | Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, California King |
Firmness | Firm, Medium Firm, or Plush |
Sinkage | ✅ 4.8 cm |
Response Time | ✅ 0.2 sec |
Motion Isolation | ⚠️ Minimal |
Edge Support | ✅ Moderate |
Bounce | ✅ Strong |
Sleeping Position | ✅ Side Sleepers ⚠️ Back Sleepers ✅ Stomach Sleepers |
Comfort Layer Height | 2.5” |
Support Layer Height | 11.5” |
Sleep Trial | 100 Nights |
Warranty | 15 Years |
Alternative Option
Hybrid mattresses usually don’t isolate motion very well, and the same is true for the Endy Hybrid. If you are set on purchasing a hybrid mattress, you should choose the Silk & Snow Hybrid instead. While it is also a hybrid mattress, it manages to isolate motion much better than the Endy Hybrid.
Best All Foam – Octave Mirage

Our Editor's Choice
Douglas Summit performs extremely well, especially for an all-foam mattress. This option boasts higher scores than mattresses twice its price, making it our top comfortable mattress pick.
- Temperature Control: 9.3/10
- Motion Isolation: 8.2/10
- Edge Support: 8.6/10
- Pressure Relief: 10/10
- Bounce: 8.2/10
- Eco: 8.5/10
- Response: 8.9/10
- Ease of Movement: 8.6/10
- Policies: 9/10
Highlights
- Perfect pressure relief for side sleepers
- High temperature control scores for couples who sleep hot
- Year-long sleep trial so you can try the mattress before you decide to keep it
“Octave Mirage is a great upgrade from our old memory foam mattress. This mattress feels completely different, and it is so, so comfortable.”
— Slumber.ca Verified Mattress Review (Octave Mirage)
Octave Mirage Construction
- Cooling Cover. The Mirage uses a cooling cover made with CryoFusion Nanofibres. This cover is smooth and cool to the touch, reducing heat at the top of the mattress so you don’t overheat.
- Copper Memory foam with PCM. The first layer is made with copper-infused gel foam. Copper is a natural conductor that works to move heat from the warmest areas to the coolest. This layer is also infused with PolarMAX, a phase-changing material that adapts to temperature changes and maintains a cooler feel.
- Aerated Latex. A comfort layer of aerated latex helps with the responsiveness of the mattress. It cushions pressure and keeps you comfortable, while the perforations help cycle cooler air up through the mattress.
- Transition Layer. A transition layer of adaptive latex-alternative foam balances your body, stops motion, and helps contour to your body. It keeps you lifted out of firmer support foam, reducing strain on your body.
- Zoned Support Foam. The support layer features five ergonomic zones, with firmer foams under your hips and lower back. Softer areas help with pressure relief, and these are helped by air channels to help keep the core of the mattress cooler.
Octave Mirage Performance Scores
Temperature Control: 9.3/10
Octave Mirage is a cooler mattress. All-foam options generally do not keep cool, but the Octave Mirage does a great job of reducing temperatures throughout the mattress. Every layer here mitigates heat in some way, from air channels through the support layer to perforated foams, PCM, and copper infusions. Heat doesn’t get a chance to build up, so you wont’ overheat.
Motion Isolation: 8.2/10
One area where the Mirage was a bit disappointing was with motion isolation. All-foam mattresses generally stop motion well, but you could feel more vibration from the other side of the bed than we like. This is probably due to the use of perforated foams and air channels in the support layer. They break up the solid foam layers to allow more movement to pass through.
Pressure Relief: 10/10
Octave Mirage completely aced our pressure relief testing. This mattress expertly relieves strain on your joints, including areas that usually suffer from pressure points (including your hips and shoulders). Our testers didn’t feel any strain at all, and even heavier sleepers were more comfortable on this mattress.
Ease of Movement: 8.6/10
While it’s easy to move around on top of the Octave Mirage, it’s also a little more difficult than we generally like to see. The mattress is responsive, but the top layers of foam can sink in a bit too far. Quick recall time makes this mattress okay for those who move around a lot, but you may get better results on a mattress with greater ease of movement.

Who is the Octave Mirage Mattress For?
- Side sleepers. Side sleepers need pressure relief and balance. The Mirage provides both. Its perfect pressure relief score is especially helpful for side sleepers.
- Hot sleepers. Layers of cooling foam and phase-changing materials reduce heat at the top of this mattress. Hot sleepers can get comfortable on this mattress without overheating.
- Those who move around a lot. This mattress is responsive enough for those who move around often.
Who Should Avoid the Octave Mirage Mattress?
- Co-sleepers. If you share a bed (and we assume you do, if you are purchasing a California King mattress), this mattress might provide too much additional movement. Its lower motion isolation score isn’t ideal for couples with restless sleepers.
Factor | Octave Mirage Mattress |

Alternative Option
Octave Mirage isn’t the best mattress for motion isolation. If you co-sleep and need a mattress that stays still, the Douglas Alpine might be a better all-foam mattress for you. If you’d rather have a hybrid, consider the Silk & Snow Hybrid. It offers some of the best motion control for a hybrid we’ve ever seen.
